Tabla Beat Science (My Mind Blowing Experience) I caught these guys at "The House Of Blues" sunday night. In case you're wondering who or what Tabla Beat Science is, it's another Bill Laswell project that is made up of 2 tabla players, drummer, turntable and bass (of course). The sound is a stew of traditional indian, hip hop, and fusion. From the material i've heard that's all i was expecting when I arrived for the show, i knew it was going to be wicked specially since Bill and Praxis had played friday night.
Well, there happened to be an opening act that wasn't listed (i still don't know their name), but you can imagine my reaction when i realized that Pharaoh Sanders was playing saxophone!! Ok. so the curtains close and open, then Tabla Beat Science takes the stage. WOW!! These cats are much better than their cd leads on! The tabla players were pounding out some of the most extraordinary rhythms I've ever heard. Then that guy with the Michael Myers mask comes back out! I don't know what else to say, but and if you here of these guys playing near you, GO!!!
and if you're lucky this guy will be with them. ![]()

http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm I wonder if that's the tabla player that Tabla Beat who the band is a tribute to. Either way I need to dig up some of that stuff with Pharoah! Thanks for the note, man! Very cool! I'm sure folks would get a kick out of that pic if you posted it. Though it might only be one other person clicking on this thread.

I did find out the name of the opening band, Abssynia Infinte
Though, from what i read Pharoah and Buckethead aren't members of this band. Bill must've asked them to sit in with the band. I have been reading really good reviews of their lastest/only realease Zion. I have to pick this up.
