Let Me Be Your Angel/Stacy Lattisaw

"Let Me Be Your Angel" by Stacy Lattisaw from 1980. Very nice song and good vocal delivery. This song was a HUGE hit. They played this to death out here in So. Cal. The song and Stacy's voice always sounded like a Jackson Five tune. The media pumped Stacy around this time as being the "next big thing". Well, this song sure put her on her way. Anyway, who here likes this tune?

I definately remember Stacy Lattisaw. Back in those days, the only teenagers on the scene were Stacy Lattisaw, and later, Janet Jackson. Boy, things have certainly changed now. lol

Anyway, out of all Stacy's slow jams, "Let Me Be Your Angel" is my absolute favorite. This was the first time I heard a Stacy Lattisaw song. When I heard "Dynamite" from that same album, I really started to like Stacy.....I saw she could throw down too. lol

The one and only Sri Chinmoy.
McLaughlin led Santana (his Devadip period) down that path for a bit also.

Funk, Stacy used to kick w/him a one point but it didn't work out. They used to go to the same church if I not mistaken. So how, I remember reading all this jazz in Right On back in the day. Wow. Talk about going back down memory lane.

Actually, that one came from her 1981 album called "With You". This album contains my all time favorite Stacy Lattisaw jam called "Feel My Love Tonight". This song has Stacy doing a "rap" similar to the one Teena Marie does on "Square Biz".....I'm cute, young, pretty as can be, I'm Stacy Lattisaw from DC....can you dig it.....can you dig it.....

love this song! I remember hearing it ALOT on the radio in 1980.It's a gorgeous song with a lovely arrangement....Narada Michael Walden is a superb producer.

TRIVIA OF THE DAY---In the late 70s,when Stacy was preparing her debut album, she was offered the song "Ring My Bell".But the lyrics weren't really appropriate for a young teen to be singing (lol),so it was given to Anita Ward instead.

Although Santana and John Mclaughlin aren't followers anymore, Narada still is....Clarence Clemmons and Lonnie Liston Smith were followers also, don't know if they still are...

Anyway I loved Narada's drums on the title cut Let Me Be Your Angel...I always liked the double bass drum action on his kit...

Ring My Bell was the cut! I can see the lyrics being too risque for Stacy though. Great info, Dave!
