what y'all think about the pointer sisters ? B4 the 80's they were a really good group who was also related to the infamous Millie Jacson, I think the pointer sisters are most definetly a underrated group..... John 3:16-20 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

The only cd of theirs that I own is Breakout and it's a great 80's new wave album. "Automatic" is probably my favorite song by them but that entire album is good accept for "i'm so excited" which I can't stand.

I have a 3-CD set that that there stuff as a trio (mostly the high energy eighties stuff, and probably contains the full "Breakout" CD with some 12" mixes) and I like them. Awesome vocals. They could probably sing the phonebook. Too bad the last few (maybe more than a few) years have been full of so much drama, with one of them (I think June) having major drug problems and getting kicked out.

"I'm so excited!!!" and "Yes" (off of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack) are great songs. I also like "(I need a man with a) Slow Hand", and there was another one too...??? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You guys must be kinda young if you only associate The Pointers with the Eddie Murphy 80's stuff.... most of the good stuff was in the 70's

I think they all attempted solo careers (and some solo singles appear on that 3-disc set) but nothing stuck out as that terrible. Also, I had no idea that any of the Pointers posed fo "Playboy".

There was a whole lot of hits they had in the eighties (they had a decent number in the seventies as well). "Jump", "Dare Me", "Goldmine", "How Long (Betcha' Gotta Chick On the Side)", "Neutron Dance", "Fire", "He's So Shy", "Yes We Can Can", "American Music"...a lot of hits...

If you can ever find a copy of 'Playboy's Entertaining Women' newsstand special from 1985, you can see June Pointer's pix along with Vanity's (pre-boob job).

For the record, the Bruce Willis song the Pointers sang backup on was called "Respect Yourself."
They were great and have a lot of great songs in the catalogue. I saw them a few years ago in a touring company performance of "Fats Waller's 'Aint Misbehavin.'" It was a good show, although it is hard to hear/see that show and not think of Nell Carter. (I digress...)

you know,I'm gonna have to get me another Pointer Sisters compilation. The one I have is good, but it only features their 80s hits and it stops in 1985.It does include the 1979 hit "Fire",however.I need a set with more 70s stuff and a few of their 80s hits that came after 1985,such as "Twist My Arm" and "Goldmine".
Any suggestions? | |

Any suggestions? The one I have doesn't have any of the 1970s hits except for "Fire". What I love about it is it includes some 12 Inch versions. It's called "Greatest Hits" and here is the track list (since it doesn't list which ones are 12 Inches, I will include the minutes): Jump (For My Love) 6:24 Neutron Dance 4:59 Dare Me 6:16 Fire 3:27 Automatic 6:06 I'm So Excited 5:41 He's So Shy 3:37 Slow Hand 3:54 I Need You 5:51 If You Wanna Get Back Your Lady 6:09 Freedom 6:21 American Music 3:58 Baby Come And Get It 7:14 Andy is a four letter word.

"Yes" was actually done by Mary Clayton As 4 the Pointer Sisters, the word "Underrated" always seems 2 come 2 mind. I've always enjoyed them. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

Any suggestions? Without a doubt, this is what you need. It's a 3-CD set titled "Legendary" and the price is amazing! $13.90 at CDuniverse....And it's an import! It's all the RCA (or MCA, whatever....) stuff, so that's "Goldmine", "Twist My Arm" and more! 50 tracks (including some nice 12" mixes). Sadly, none of their early stuff but you can get that somewhere else. 1. Fire 2. Dirty Work 3. Everybody Is A Star 4. Happiness 5. (She's Got) The Fever 6. Dreaming As One 7. Could I Be Dreamin' 8. He's So Shy 9. LOVE TOO GOOD TO LAST, The 10. Should I Do It 11. Slow Hand 12. Someday We'll Be Together 13. Sweet Lover Man 14. What A Surprise 15. Got To Find Love 16. Heart To Heart 17. I Feel For You 18. Heart Beat 19. See How The Love Goes 20. American Music 21. Automatic 22. Baby, Come And Get It 23. Easy Persuasion 24. I Need You 25. Jump (For My Love) 26. Neutron Dance 27. Telegraph Your Love 28. I'm So Excited 29. Dance Electric 30. Operator 31. I'm Ready For Love 32. Twist My Arm 33. Hey You 34. Pound Pound Pound 35. Freedom 36. Dare Me 37. Burn Down The Night 38. Back In My Arms 39. Bodies And Souls 40. Contact 41. Goldmine 42. Overnight Success 43. I'm In Love 44. Moonlight Dancing 45. I Will Be There 46. Automatic [12- Extended Mix] 47. Dare Me [12- Extended Mix] 48. I'm So Excited [12- Extended Mix] 49. Jump (For My Love) [12- Extended Mix] 50. Neutron Dance [12- Extended Mix] You'll notice a Prince cover in there...No, not "Dance Electric" (it's a different song) but "I Feel For You", probably done right after Prince's verison and very similar to his.
