80s rock classic of the day: "Working For The Weekend" by Loverboy (1981) When it comes to 80s pop/rock,I mostly prefer the early 80s (pre-1985).This is before we got alot of uninspired,over-synthesized and over-produced crap.Loverboy's 1981 hit "Working For The Weekend" is a standout song. It's a fast,vibrant,take-no-prisoners rock number that still sounds good to this day.It reminds me of the early days of MTV,when the video was in heavy rotation.Loverboy were riding high in 1981-82.Their 'Get Lucky' album was HUGE,with one hit after another. But "Living For The Weekend" is their masterpiece, imo. "Working For The Weekend" (written by Dean,Frentta,Reno) Everyone's watching,to see what you will do Everyone's looking at you Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right (chorus) Everybody's working for the weekend Everybody wants a little romance Everybody's going off the deep end Everybody needs a second chance,oh You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start You wanna be in the show come on baby let's go Everybody's looking to see if it was you Everyone wants you to come through Everyone's hoping it'll all work out Everyone's waiting, they're holding out (chorus) Everybody's working for the weekend Everybody wants a little romance Everybody's going off the deep end Everybody needs a second chance,oh You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start You wanna be in the show come on baby let's go (instrumental break) You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start You wanna be in the show come on baby let's go You want a piece of my heart you better start from the start You wanna be in the show come on baby let's go! I love that song. I remember seeing them on "American Bandstand" turning it out. Andy is a four letter word. | |
