That's ok. I like kinky weird. But we'll reserve the insane for Michael. He's earned it.

Ok, never heard about that. I've read from several sources that she got an audition with A&M (through MJ or not - I'm not sure). I'll trust that over "I heard it from a friend of a friend...." I saw that info on VH1's Driven I think.

both have strong and weak points.
But BECAUSE Michael has more albums / experience / and more of a singer than Janet is I have to go with Michael. how can u just throw away albums like Destiny / Git It Together / Triumph / Off The Wall / Thriller / Looking Through The Windows / Dangerous...I just cant do that. janet is very good very very good, much just not as much of a career span from 10 years old to forty-idunno now. Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I prefer Michael's music by FAR over Janet's. In the late 1980s, I was preferring Janet's but then she sold out to the current music of the time. Michael continued funk all the way until his "Blood On The Dance Floor" album. I had left Janet far in the wind by then. [Edited 4/4/05 21:52pm] Andy is a four letter word.

guess who´s mine? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

There is no competition.Michael wins this round
Janet is cute, she can dance, and she's done some decent songs. But can any of her albums compare with 'Off The Wall' and 'Thriller'? Hell, can any of her singles compare with the early Jackson 5 stuff? I'll take "Who's Lovin You" and "Mama's Pearl" over ANY Janet single.Vocally,it's not even a competition. As others have pointed out,if it wasn't for Michael and his own success,we probably would have never heard of Janet. He paved the way for her success. Her early videos looked alot like his.

True, and there is one weak point that applies to both of them. They both found a successful formula that worked for them in the past, but they're too afraid to branch out, experiment and try new things.Janet is stuck in her 1993 "sex kitten mode",making predictable sex-themed R&B albums produced by Jam and Lewis.Michael simply chases R&B trends,in a desperate attempt to remain cool and hip.

true, but you cant deny he' a diverse musician

To me, even looking at Janet is weird, because she looks to me just as Michael with boobs.
Seriously, she has copied most of his brother's exaggerated facial mannerisms and poses. Or does that deadpan look run in the blood? Neither of them come off as a terribly sane, natural individual to me either, but I prefer Michael's honest insanity over Janet's overt artificiliaty though. And don't even mention Janet's vocal "talents".... I prefer Janet's dressing sense though!

Come on, man, that's a little unfair. His albums cover a lot of musical ground.

Come on, man, that's a little unfair. His albums cover a lot of musical ground. The only song on 'Invincible' that dares to take him in a new direction is "Whatever Happens",which boasts a cool Latin flavor. All the other songs fit neatly into the R&B/pop category.I don't hate the album,I'm just saying that it's nothing we haven't already heard from him before.Janet's albums are even less distinctive.

Well, okay. But still it's a diverse album. There's hip-hop influenced tracks, r&b, soul, pop, funk. It's not fair to say all he does is chase current musical trends. I can't see someone like 50 Cent or Usher doing a song like Speechless.

Yeah, that's a great song. I was playing it just yesterday, it would've made an interesting single release. Superfly Sister is a cool track, too. Took me a long while to appreciate but it's fine jam.

"superfly sister" is one of my all time fav MJ tracks. So cold sounding and funky. Must be a demo. I have said it before, it is spawn of or it spawned "do the bart man". The drums are the same, the writers are the same. So it is a 1990 demo infact.
