I heard a rumor that Vanity is the lady on the cover of their 1982 album 'Alligator Woman'.Anyone know if it's true?

nod

This is not Vanity

Alligator Woman was released in 1982. Vanity was already in Vanity 6 by this time.

Hmmm.....Cameo's 'Alligator Woman' album was released in spring 1982.The Vanity 6 album didn't come out until August 1982.I know that Vanity was already in the Prince camp since early '82....but perhaps this photo was taken several months earlier? Or possibly without Prince's knowledge? (LOL).

U know, when this album first hit, the first thing I thought when I saw the cover was "Wow, this girl is hot." Then when Vanity 6 came, I did think that it was Vanity on Cameo's joint. Vanity a.k.a. Denise had done some acting AND modeling previous to meeting P. These were gigs for her. I don't think P had that much of a hold over her to say some shit like "Look bitch, U not posing for Cameo. That is that. Understand?" Then change gears on her ass with some shit like "I'm sorry Denise. I..I..just don't want you around Larry Blackmon at all. Don't I make u happy?" And then Denise "What, are u jealous?.. Fuck u, with your short ass. I'm doing the cover!" And that was that.

One of my favorite songs by them is "Better Days", though I haven't been able to find what album it's on, was it just a b-side?

It's the last song on "Feel Me" The album was released in 1980 right before "Knights Of The Sound Table" which was also released in 1980. The two jams on there were Roller Skates and Keep It Hot. Better Days is a great song no doubt.

I never once thought it was Vanity even back in the day. That was one of those rumors I remember hearing but there was never any comfirmation. If it was true, there would be something on it somewhere. But nothing like that is out there.

Yea that's the one. The reason that album is so over looked, is because it came out 9 months after "Cameosis" and only 5 months before "Knights of the Sound Table" (which actually came out early 81 not 80) It was the middle album in what was an album releasing spree by Cameo that saw them put out 3 albums in about 16 months. Can you even imagine someone doing that today?
