Maybe because she played her? Selena had an amazing voice, and I think - given time and proper direction - she likely would have made a successful transition to the pop world. Her English language debut album wasn't great, but it showed potential, and it really highlighted her beautiful voice. Thank God Gregory Nava chose to have Jennifer Lopez lip synch her songs. She was amazing in the role, but she could not have duplicated her voice.

I bet J-Lo hits a few good high notes in bed though.

“Selena, !Vive!” will celebrate the talent, music and life of the Tex-Mex Queen, whose life was cut short in Corpus Christi one decade ago. Univision has assembled an impressive roster of internationally-famous recording artists, including: Pepe Aguilar, Pete Astudillo, Banda el Recodo, Los Dinos, Gloria Estefan, Fey, Ana Gabriel, Alejandra Guzman, India, Lucero, Montez de Durango, Jay Perez, Bobby Pulido, A.B. And I can't believe this. I cry when i hear Dreamin' Of You, it's so emotional. or when I watch the movie, I cry on that part when she's singing the song and then it stops and she's in the hospital I miss her deeply. She was SOO beautiful and SO talented. And they choose a person who looks SHIT like her and has practically the talent my foot would have at singin' to play her part in a movie. it makes me fucking angry, that shit is bogus!
