Semisonic is having a concert June 20th at First Ave.
Perfect timing to see them live in their home city!
Then a week of Prince at the celebration.
I found out about this concert last night and am so freakin happy I almost can't stand it lol

I'm comming into town that day,unfortuantely 7:00 pm is to early for me to be able to catch their performance. I wish it was a little later.

...however, I have horrible news.
They're breaking up. I know people might not belive this right now, but I'm a bit of an insider and I heard from a reliable source. (Damn, that sounds like National Inquirer)

Well, Zum, this is not hard for me to believe. Their contract is about up and Dan has told the Semisonic message board that their label has not gave them the OK to make a new CD, it's been over a year since their last CD came out, Dan has done a few solo gigs, and also since John is in The Flops now with Dan's brother Matt, and Jake moved to New York over a year ago it's not at all hard to believe just knowing those few things without the "insider info"
With all that it's all the more reason for me to see the concert in June because if it is their last one as Semisonic I sure want to be there. If they do break up I'm sure they will still stay together in some ways and still do shows together. I don't have inside info but I'm willing to guess it's not them breaking up...it's more like MCA is drooping them and they are going to try a few new things.
To quote Dan from March 31st, 2002 "I know that the guys and I are going to play a show or two in Minneapolis/St. Paul in the springtime. Other than that all is kind of open ended. We were on the road or recording together pretty relentlessly from 95 until this past fall -- my guess is that the fans patient waiting and our doing other things for a period will both be well rewarded in time, with another great Semi cd"

I'm going to see the Flops tonight at the Turf Club! Should be interesting!
