I know sigh I keep hoping tho that America will actually get it right and vote based on talent and not based on this weeks fad. pissed

Yes, cuz if that were true, Jennifer Hudson would be on Broadway in a dream-come-true revival of Dreamgirls and have the #1 album in the country. biggrin

You have no idea how devastated I am that this is not the truth. bawl

I have recorded her rendition of "Circle of Life" on my work phone so I can hear it any time I want to biggrin I don't think anything that has ever been sung on that show came close to the majesty that was on display that day. Not even Summertime, which I'd say is my second favorite Idol performance over Hudson's "Circle of Life"

And my personal favorite is her version of Barry Manilow's Weekend in New England - the song that was, apparently, so terrible she was voted off the show.

i listen to JH's weekend in New England 4 times a week...that and when they did the judges medley, when JH, Latoya and Fantasia sang the last verse of I made it through the rain...they simply owned that song and made it very evident that the three of them were waaaay better pure singers than the rest of them.
as far as nadia goes, she and anwar started strong, but have made some really stupifying song choices, and it's catching up with them, being voted in the bottom three. funny that the guy who thinks he has the most r&b sound is the fat mechanic looking white guy.

Yeah, I agree that her version of God Bless the Child was good. Very good. But Nadia a fraud? I don't see it. She seems pretty straight-forward.

There were many more talented girls in the 48, and in the 24. Jenae was a better singer than Nadia. Nadia is skating by and the longer she's in this game the madder I get. She has got to go!

#1 The concept of American Idol is a farce. I don't blame the contestants, the whole setup is unrealistic, with that in mind it is entertainment, and way too many peeps get their underwear in a wad over it for no reason. Not just the casual who is better debate, but it gets really nasty and even racial at times. And yes I got caught up in it last season, but this season overall is a definite snore.

#2 I like Nadia because she is different. I'm sure most viewers expected her to be another black person singing R&B and screaming through the songs. She's not that way, she's different, and dispels that idea. She's versatile. Of course she is not the best singer but she has style and that goes and has gone a long way for many entertainers, including the established ones. With that said, I don't expect Nadia to last more than another week or two unless she pulls out all the stops vocally.

#3 There are at least two or three others who need be out of there, but since they have an established fanbase, it's going to take the top 5 to maybe weed the more popular ones out.

#4 I'm rooting for Nadia for style and overall gracious presentation, but I expect Bo, Carrie, and Vonzell to be in the top 5.

#5 Janae over Nadia??? umm...NO!

Yes! Cuz I said so damnit! lol

I would like to list another complaint. I get very bothered that every year they have these black women with beautiful curly hair and by the time they make their way towards the end of the contest, they straighten their hair and never go back to ther beautiful curly locks. Now it would be one thing if the girl were making that choice, but it seems to me that it's a pre-requisite for these girls to make it to the end of the competition.

hate to say it, but as long as she plays the " i'm black, but i'mma sing rock and roll Tina Turner" card, she's gonna lose. not saying she has to do what people might typically expect, but singing a reggae-tinged cyndi lauper time after time and melissa etheridge ain't gonna win you many votes. vonzell on the other hand, has stepped up her game and has done dionne warwick, the emotions and whitney houston, 3 very different types of r&b that appeal to the crowd. nikko has survived doing the same thing

Which one is Nadia?

She's the black girl with the big afro hair. She had the giant mohawk and sang Cindy Lauper's "Time after Time".

I think Nadia was singing MUCH better prior to the Cyndi Lauper bust. I think she does have or had one fo the best voices on that show. After Time after time...I rethunk my thinking, but she is a good singer. Remember that the competition is about looks and control of the audience. However in the end it is always the better of the 2 singers that wins.

For me the issue isn't that she isn't singing R&B. IMO, too many black artists are pigeonholed by their skin. There are plenty of black musicians rocking the hell out. It's not about the style but about the substance. I don't think she's all that great. Not at all.

she doesn't necessarily have to sing r&b, but it's like she's going out of her way to NOT sing anything remotely r&bish...hell even the russian did george michael/aretha franklin...nadia's gonna fall into that darius rucker mode real soon and that young girl..what's her name phoebe sumthin...there's plenty of nice pop tunes she could pick...900+ number ones to choose from and you choose time after time? like i said earlier, i think her and anwar's problem is that instead of singing songs that get people to actually want to vote for you, they are doing songs that make you want to vote for other people, and that's just as bad

I like Nadia because she is different. She nailed a ballad type song a week before she did Time after Time. She is a good versatile singer IMO. I like her humble attitude.

I think she likes the exposure and knows she can have a singing career without winning AI.

True, but Streisand's version is pretty famous. And her arrangement seemed to be based on Babs' version.

And regardless, my real point was that it was awful--even compared to Rita Moreno or Natalie Wood or whoever sings it in the movie or Original Broadway Cast recording.

This is the first season I've actually tried to watch. I can't do it. It's too painful, both the judges and the contestants. It's unbelievable to me that these people were the best they saw.

That said, based on few episodes I watched, Nadia was my least-hated. And my most hated was that horrible, horrible blonde guy.

The world has truly lost it's mind. She is not a better singer than Federov, or Carrie Underwood or Vonzell. I can't believe how many people have come in here acting as if she's all that. She is plain, boring, uninspired and a very average singer. She has mad style but the only reason I'd ever buy a CD of hers is to burn it nod

Quite frankly I'm shocked he is not doing better. I do believe he has it in him, you can't argue his ability, but he sure isn't picking the right songs for his range. What Jackson said last night is true, he starts out shaky and rescues it at the end. I thought for sure he was gonna tear up Chaka's "Aint Nobody". It's too bad that guy David was eliminated so early on (the guy with the microphone necklace). I think he would have only gotten better. Remember during this whole contest they are getting vocal training and that is usually why they get better as the contest progresses.
