I know I'm in the minority, but it's one of my favorite albums of hers. She tried something really new and, for me, it worked. I love the sound of her voice on this album. I sort of look at it as her own version of Donna Summer's I Remember Yesterday.

you know,it is sorta like Donna's 'I Remember Yesterday' album, isn't it? Both albums feature music that was inspired from an earlier period, and yet both albums conclude with a hot, edgy dance track to represent the present-day ("I Feel Love" and "Vogue").

Yep. And both songs were massively influential dance tracks that overshadowed the rest of the album.

Davideye, you're a Donna fan stop defending Madonna....oh wait, you're both. I'm both!

The reason I wouldn't compare them is becuase I think the "I'm Breathless" are, for the most part, kind of the same (samey, if you will) where "I Remember Yesterday", despite being a lot shorter, seems to cover a lot more ground. I don't think "I'm Breathless" is that bad an album, but I do think that it was very novelty....In fact, I recently went to Madonna.com and looked at her studio albums and I'm not sure if it was listed?

It's indeed there, listed under soundtracks

Yep, I checked, it's under the Music heading and just click on soundtracks.

I'm Breathless is still pretty big for Madonna's career. It did contain Hanky Panky which was still a hit, and Sooner or Later, which won the Academy Award in 91.

Yeah, but saying it's soundtrack doesn't really equate it to a "proper" album. Yes, "Who's That Girl" is indeed a sondtrack with some Madonna songs (as is "Vision Quest") but shouldn't "I'm Breathless" be considered a full studio album that it was?

No, it was the soundtrack to Dick Tracy...

hmph! Fine! If you do count that as a soundtrack, then I think "Dick Tracy" had like three of them! Madonna's, a pop one and a score.

Nontheless it was listed on her website, and it is a soundtrack, considering like 3 or 4 of the songs were used in the movie and because the music was inspired by the film.
Even the songs she wrote were inspired by Dick Tracy and his adventures.

Just like you may consider Purple Rain, a Prince album, it's technically a soundtrack..
