To me it sounds like she'd been playing with a band all along on Choirgirl. Just a completely natural progression for her. Do you have the b-sides from that album? They add a lot.

I have all the b-sides. They didn't do anything for me either, although I've gotten used to "Cooling" somewhat. I didn't like much of Tori's post-'Under The Pink' b-sides as much as the ones from the first two albums. Those early ones I know and love almost more than some of the corresponding album tracks.

I understand with the Pele ones. A lot of those were pretty silly and really had nothing to do with the album. But Siren, Cooling, Do It Again, Purple People, Bachelorette, Never Seen Blue and Beulah Land I find essential. All perfect 10's. I've been really into those songs lately and can't get enough of 'em. She started skimping for the albums after that. Since she doesn't have many singles released anymore, I'm glad she put out Scarlet's Hidden Treasures. That really boosts the album for me.

That happened to me too. I totally skipped over Choirgirl but connected instantly with Venus.

I proabably need to listen to them more. "Cooling" has grown on me because I've heard Tori perform it live a few times. I recently compiled 57 non-album (and non-live) Tori Amos tracks into a collection called 'Supplementary Notes'--from "Upside Down" to her two covers on the 'Mona Lisa' soundtrack--and transferred all the tracks to my computer at work. Now I can listen to them all in a row and get to know the later ones better.

"Cooling" has become one of my favorite songs by anyone. I listened to that song so much right before my dad died. I had no idea why I was so drawn to it and had no warning about his illness. But in hindsight, that song really prepared me for what was to come. I'll always assosciate it with that time. I recently perfected my b-sides set too. I've been promising IstenSzek my results, so I better get with it. I would love if she'd put out her own "Join the Dots". I think every single Tori fan would buy it in a heartbeat.

And can I just say holy fucking shit! I just listened to her live cover of "Like A Prayer". Wow! She needs to record this now.

If you could hand select the 2 that were played, what would they be? Any song that I had at least heard before, but "Like A Prayer" would have made my head spin. Good thing Cloudbuster isn't around to comment about her doing "Rocket Man".

Okay, I'm forgetting you guys haven't actually seen the tour yet. There's a point during the main set where the sign 'Tori's Cafe' is displayed on the projection screen and that's when she performs two requests/covers each night. Any previously released covers like "Rattlesnakes" and "Ring My Bell" are relegated to other parts of the setlist. I would feel cheated if she performed covers of hers that I already have during 'Tori's Cafe'.
