Thriller vs Bad! Shamon! Ok guys, I know i'll probably get a lot of shit for this but I prefer Bad over Thriller. There are more hits, less filler and it rocks harder! What do you all think? Shamon!

BAd rocked harder than thriller
but thriller was funkier than bad,, but bad wins, because MJ did more of the song writing and producing i still have my doubts if he wrote smooth criminal he must of been real coked up!!! "Quincy , Quincy, i got a real cool song coming, wheres my crack pipe?" "Anna are you ok Are you ok Annie, yah thats sounds hott" *Wheezing* *Coughs* "she was shot down by a cresendo, annie YEAH YEAH THAt shyt is the hottness"

I always thought Thriller was better, and over time, my opinion of Bad has continued to diminish.

Thriller over Bad anyday. I may be one of the few that was initally disappointed with Bad but it slowly grew on me. It just felt very poppy and light but there are some grooves on there: Speed Demon is underrated altho I hate the bridge with a passion; Another Part of Me, Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal give it a serious boost (and thank God for video) but overall it's one of my least favorite albums by MJ. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Speed demon is a bad ass (pun intended) song and could've probably been released as another single. The only thing that really gives Bad a run for it's money are 2 of the best Jacko songs of all time "wanna be starting something" and "Billy Jean". "Beat it is cool too but I just think overall Bad is better. I like more songs on it than the ones on "Thriller". By the way, I used to despise "dirty diana" when it first came out but now it's kind of cool. I also hated "black cat" by Janet and still do! I think it's crapola!

May I also note that "smooth criminal" is without a doubt one of the best videos ever made! The songs kicks ass too!

Bad gets worse by the year.
Thriller is still awesome. Off The Wall crushes them both.

Thriller is still awesome. Off The Wall crushes them both. I didn't like it when it first dropped and now it's even worse. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

It's painful to listen to songs off Bad now with the exception of maybe Man in the Mirror. Thriller is still awesome. Off The Wall crushes them both.

[Edited 3/30/05 9:43am] are you serious? you think that's the only listenable song from that album? what about "leave me alone", "smooth criminal" "another part of me"? those are great songs!

Somehow I got by on "I Can't Help It", "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" on other releases. Off The Wall is crazy good, and not even in kitschy way some disco comes off. It's totally solid.

As for what do I prefer, I have to go with Thriller. That's when I was around 12 - 13 years old and thought he was a fine, straight male.

Off the wall is mostly cack.
Most of thriller is good But Bad beats it hands down. i'm one of the few people who love "i just can't stop loving you" (why the hell no video?) and "just good friends". "speed demon" is super funky. I love the scratchy guitar. Outtake "streetwalker" is a class act too. "bad", dispite most of the songs being agresdive, is a clean, funky sounding album. I love the synclaviers, hammond middis etc and the hyper drum programmed frenzied beats on "bad". Only other album that really sounds like "bad" is Siedah Garrett's solo 1988 album "kiss of life", which I remember SosGemini liking too. Rod temperton writes some tracks on their which suggests Siedahs tracks were intended for Michael but Mike passed on them and Quincy said give 'em to Siedah (she was on his label). Look out for "kiss of life". Highly reccomended if u like "bad". The "bad" sound woulda caught on but NewJack took over by 1990. Which for me, is both good and bad as I love Newjack (thus loving "dangerous" and the sound of "bad".) "off the wall" just has annoying orchastrations which I generally don't like in music. Infact, I prefer the Jacksons "triumph"

I think Thriller for most people would be considered better because of the songs thriller, beat it and billie jean which are great catchy sonmgs but Bad overall definitely wins this competition for me!Jacko was wokring it on this album!

Love that video too, Dancerella! Love the choregraphy and the costuming. Just wonderful. Song is good too. Jacko's dancing in smooth criminal is so feirce. Whenever it got played my eyes would be glued to the tv. Don't you think Usher's video for "caught up" is a copy of that? How do you think it compares?

I agree, I think Dangerous is Michael's best, writing and performance-wise and is also his most under-appreciated album.
My favorite tracks: Give Into Me Who Is It Dangerous Can't Let Her Get Away

What songs are on "dangerous"? Yo dance, u gotta get "dangerous" before "off the wall". "dangerous" is my fav MJ album. Shame he bottled out making it a full newjack album as once thought with la reid/babyface and teddy riley at the helm, but the second half is still bloody good though.

Another "rank the MJ albums" thread - haven't we done like a zillion of these? Anywho, here's the VC ratings scale:
Off The Wall > Thriller > Dangerous > HIStory > Bad > Invincible
