The Most Overused Rhymes in Popular Music (Old and New) You all know what I'm talking about. What are the word pairings that seem
to have been used in every goddamn song since 1929? I think the biggest offender as a genre has to be love songs, so that's where I'll start. Arms and Charms The Mistress decrees that from this day on, songwriters who rhyme "arms and charms" together (as in hold you in my arms/fill you with my charms) will be shot on sight, with no mercy whippings. Add your own offenses to the list, darlings. The Normal Whores Club

here's a question: a) would u rather party all night long until the break of dawn; b) party all night long until the early morn; or c) party all night until the early light?

and wave em like you just don't care Oh how I hate that. This one gets a lighter sentence because it's basically a party chant. It's not necessarily put down in lyrics and passed off as serious songwriting. So it gets life in prison instead of one between the eyes. The Normal Whores Club

Someone had to start it though, and it must be in a recorded song somewhere. Where did it originate from originally I wonder? I think it originated from MC battles and hip-hop parties in the early 80s. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The Normal Whores Club

Anything that rhymes with "high." John Legend is sooooo guilty of this on his record. Half that mutha fucka's record has songs with that damn rhyme.

here's a question: a) would u rather party all night long until the break of dawn; b) party all night long until the early morn; or c) party all night until the early light? That is a tired one. I liked it way back on Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince's Rock the House, but not so much on the new Mariah album.

"heart" and "part" (or "apart")
and, of course, any dr. seuss type rhyme (e.g., some combination of "mad,""bad," "sad," and "had")
