A "REAL" Reality Show?... ...about REAL musicians. (not Pop stars or personalities)
Studio Jams on the BET Jazz Channel is a show that documents groups of musicians as they discuss what tunes they'll play, the rehearsal and finally the actualy recording of the tune. The musicians generally don't normally play together and in some cases have never played together before. This particular segment featured the following musicians. Badal Roy - Tablas Badal, since coming to America in 1968 (initially working as a waiter) , has skillfully intregrated the tabla into the Jazz vernacular. His 1st recording gig was with Miles Davis (Big Fun) followed by John McLaughlin (My Goals Beyond). Talk about hitting the ground running. Other notable associations include Herbie Mann, Don Cherry, Pharoah Sanders, Dizzy Gillespie and an ongoing musical relationship with Ornette Coleman. Victor Jones - Drums Lou Donaldson, Stan Getz, James Moody, Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Clarke, Phyllis Hyman, Stanley Turrentine, Dizzy Gillespie and Chaka Khan. Mark Douthit - Saxophone Whitney Houston, The Neville Brothers, Elton John, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Michael McDonald, Billy Preston, Take 6, Donna Summer, Don Henley, Vanessa Williams, Billy Joel, Kirk Whalum, Larry Carlton. John B. Williams - Bass Nancy Wilson, Manhattan Transfer, Hugh Massakela, Freddie Hubbard, Count Basie Michael Wolff- Keys Most of you will recognize him from his stint as the bandleader for the Arsenio Hall Show (which included John B. Williams on bass) but prior to that he played with Cal Tjader, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, Nancy Wilson, Airto Moreira and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. Probably due to Wolff's link to the Cannonball group, they did an interesting arrangement of Work Song. tA  Tribal Disorder

You know, they're not sure yet. It seems as though the MUSICIANS ripped him/her to shreds and scattered the body parts to the 4 winds when he/she attempted to lug that b.s. into the studio. 
Btw, the studio was none other than the legendary Sigma Sound. Home of some legendary recordings by...  
...The Salsoul Orchestra (reminds me of an avvie I used to know) and MFSB among others. Hmmm, all those MUSICIANS and not an MPC to be found. Wonder Why?
