I love my 80s R&B. My friend just got us tix to see Stephanie Mills this coming Friday at BB King's in Times Square. This girl can sang!!!!!

Her biggest hits were "Never knew love like this before", "Home", "Sweet Sensation", "I have learned to respect the power of love", etc.

She also did an amazing cover of Prince's "How come you don't call me anymore"?

My favorite is the long version of "The Medicine Song."
It's often overlooked as one of her best and I love dancing to it.
LOVE dancing to it!!!!

She is definitely a vocal powerhouse. I would put her on my list with some of the baddest vocalist out there like the Chakas and Pattis.

The ones I like are:

Put Your Body In It
Sweet Sensation
Never Knew Love Like This Before
Pilot Error

Other than those, I don't care for too much for her other stuff.

Stephanie has a fairly new cd out on JM Records called Born For Thiswhich is VERY NICE!! (There are a couple of remakes including "Something In the Way.") If you're a fan of her and her voice, you'll like it.

Of course, folks remember Meli'sa Morgan. She's known best around these parts for her cover of Do Me Baby, but she's got other great tunes (I love Fool's Paradise).

No use repeating what others have already said, but I love Stephanie Mills' voice. Hers is one of the best voices in R&B, and she had some great songs - one of the few who can do both upbeat and slow jams without compromise!

I have to refresh my memory. I have that song on her MCA Greatest Hits collection.

Artists like Stephanie never have a complete hits collection due to the fact that they recorded for several different labels.

Stephanie was amazing last night at BB King's. Damn, she is tiny!!!

What a voice!!! She talked about growing up in Brooklyn, and she mentioned that she turned 48 last week.

My girl can still turn out a song. My only complaint is that the show was rather short, like 70 minutes. Maybe even 65 minutes.

She opened with "Never knew love like this before", and closed with "Home".

The highlight for me was "I have learned to respect..."

I thought it was cute when she did the "Wiz" song "Ease on down the road".

At one point, she asked the management to turn off the air conditioner to save her voice.

She had 4 male background singers, and they were awesome. They reminded me of Patti Labelle's background singers.

Her 1987 album 'If I Were Your Woman' is a masterpiece.I consider it her second best album (1980's 'Sweet Sensation' is her best). In addition to the songs that you listed,I also like "Mystery Lady" and "Touch Me Now".On the title track (a remake),she even gives Gladys Knight a run for her money.
