I've always thought she was HIGHLY underrated! I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't. | |

I saw her in live in October of '03 on the tour promoting Comfort Woman and I was blown away by her musicianship, voice and stage presence. I have been a big fan of hers for a few years and after seeing her in concert I became a die-hard. I always scoff when people talk about Alicia Keys and the like, as if they are actually doing anything to push music forward. Meshell is miles ahead of her contemporaries. However, her music is not as accessible/commercial because she challenges her listener by changing up her style; uses provocative lyrics (about sexuality, race relations, spirituality etc.)and she doesn't fit into the heterosexual "sex symbol" role that society is comfortable with.
