I wish the new Beck album wasn't so damn good, because I also got the new album by The Decemberists today, and it's freakin' sublime. Alas, I've got Guero on the brain and can't pull myself away long enough to take in the Decemberists' album as much as I'd like. Woe.

I can say this upon first listen, however - I really like the Arcade Fire, but I think The Decemberists are about 100x more original and creative. And that's not to say I think the Arcade Fire are uncreative or unoriginal. It's just how amazing this band is. I hope they become the next big "it" alternative band, and I hope it somehow sticks. The songs are gorgeous and the lyrics are just fantastic.

To hell with Beck (for a while, anyway) - I'm throwin' on my Decemberists disc...

have you listened to The Dears album No Cities Left? That is an amazing record if you like Arcade Fire.

i haven't heard the dears yet. i remember someone singing their praises not too long ago. maybe it was you?
