Sade's "Promise" turns 20 this year!!! This album is sultry, haunting, beautiful, etc. etc. etc. I am listening to it right now and I thought . . . wow, it's 20 years old!

singlehandedly one of the most depressing albums ever. Don't listen to this if you've just broken up with someone and are heartbroken. I cried over this album for months after my very first boyfriend ditched me. We dated for about 4 months and as soon as he screwed me I never saw him again....

this album is as
beautiful as romantic as haunting & as BRILLIANT as it was 20 (damn, it HAS been) years ago. this has always been my favorite Sade album; to me, on Promise Sade reveals an "emotional depth" (or vulnerability?) that I haven't felt on other albums.. especially on that "rollercoaster" of a song Is It A Crime.. it dives & it jumps & it ripples like the deepest ocean.. I'll see you tonight..

My Mom brought this CD when it came out and we both liked it. It is a classic. I need to buy it for myself. Have they remastered the CD? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

Every Sade album is a must have,,,,
she is the only artist that i do not hate any of her tracks at all!! every album is non skip proof! JEZEBEL is timeless.... i do love the live version of this too, it gives me goosebumps. | |
