nod This group has definitely written some good songs. However, I miss Peter Cetera from thier lineup.

Chicago was basically two different groups; the Terry Kath led, funky horn group (from 1969 to his accidental shooting death in 1978), and the Peter Cetera led adult contemporary group (from 1979 to 1989, though Cetera left the group in 1985). The early group was funky and played some of the best rock in the 1970's. While there were some hints of the soft rock group they would eventually become (Colour My World, Wishing You Were Here, If You Leave Me Now), they relied mostly on their uptempo jazz-funk-rock fusion as their signature sound.

However, after Terry Kath's death, the group floundered for a brief time. They nearly broke up in 1980, but then they brought in David Foster to help write and produce their tracks, and that's when they became more of an adult contemporary group. While they had huge hits in the 1980's with their lite FM songs, most critics thought they had sold out.

When I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are,
Or what we're doing. I'm with you, that's all that matters.
Time passes much too quickly when we're together laughing.
I wish I could sing it to you, oh no,
I wish I could sing it to you.
Mostly I'm silent.
Never think about words to say.

When I kiss you, I feel a thousand different feelings.
I'm covered with chills all over my body.
And while I feel them, I quickly try to decide which one
I should try to put into words, oh no,
Try to put into words.
Mostly I'm silent.

Only the beginning of what I want to feel forever.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.
I've got to get you into my life.
Got to get you next to me.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.

Chicago? Man they corny right? I'd proberly like 'em them but iam surprised some of u do.....

Peter co-wrote "voices that care" with David Foster. I love David's shit. Like the stuff he did with color me badd and lets not forget Jacko's "earth song" amongst others. I forget who ripped off who? Did David rip off Narada Michael Waldens production style or vice versa? David did some nice work on obscure soundtrack "If looks could kill". The instrumental is nice.

David Foster is in Chicago right?

Oh he produced. I guess none of chicago's david produced stuff has that twinkly synclavia sound he used so much on power ballads etc in the 80's/early 90's?

Hey he prodcued and co wrote "st elmo's fire" by John Parr. That song rocks....."i'll be ur man in motion". I love that line.

Everybody who mistakes the real Chicago for some FM lite crap that they came up with during the 80s, read, and re-read that. The REAL Chicago was musically deeper than that Cetera-led group of the 80s with all those sappy ballads. The Terry Kath version of Chicago is where it's always been at. If you don't know that band, you don't know Chicago.

They even did a song with Al Green.
