Yeah, but the Bone marrow drive was acutally for anybody who was seeking a donor, but at sametime, Nelly was hoping to find a donor whose bone marrow matched his sister's, but they never did. Now, even if I didn't like him as an artist, I without a doubt would love him as a person for doing this. She had luekemia, which caused her to lose all of her hair. I almost cried when I seen the footage of her remove the doo-rag from her head to show everybody what the cancer did. But anyway, the officials of the college campus that the bone marrow drive was being held on had shut it down cause they claimed Nelly's TipDrill" video on BET afterhours was offensive and degrading to women which is bullshit. How is it offensive and degrading if those chicks willingfully allow themselves to be in the video naked and doing whatever? Rest in peace to Nelly's sister. God bless her soul. I hope Nelly and family stay strong. Fuck cancer. [Edited 3/25/05 23:18pm] Onion Juice appears courtesy of Streethop.com

And personally I do care about the images of women in media, so Big up the women of Spelman. I believe their view was that Nelly doesn't value the images of women in his video and yet he would come to a women's college to seek out assistance for his sister. I understand Nelly's desire to seek assistance for his sister but I'm not going to dog the women who conducted this protest either. Do I think they picked a weird time to protest? YES! The situation with Bone Marrow transplants and the African American community is critical. I'm on the registry so I do find it important. I just think the women saw an opportunity and took it. God bless her and RIP! Moorehouse was just down the rode. He could have held it there.

Maybe he was the one who cancelled it, but he had to because the college administration couldn't guarantee it would be protest-free. And the protesting would've runined the bone marrowed especially if you a got bunch angry woman running people off cause they feel like Nelly don't value the image of woman in videos. That "Tipdrill" video ain't have shit to do with at bone marrow drive. So, hell yeah, they were heartless. It wasnt like Nelly was tryna shoot a fucking video on their campus or anything. The bone marrow drive could've helped alot of people, and since Nelly's a popular rapper, it would've drew in alot of people. And other thing, alot of rappers that have vidoes just like "Tipdrill" (some clean enough to be show at daytime) have performed on that campus and they didn't get protested against. And none of them were doing something good for a change like Nelly. And they are even some of the women that go to Spelman are strippers. But like said before, them chicks did that willingfully did the video. Who should be protested against? Nelly or them bitches who obviously don't value the image of themselves? I agree that the timing was funky for the protest. They protested at the wrong time and didn't see the value in the bone marrow drive BUT I still won't criticize those women who wanted to voice their concerns about women in these videos. Basically, what you're saying is that there is no such thing as exploitation and that because these women make the decision to be in the videos, no one should complain about the concepts and IMAGES in the videos.... So if the women don't value the images of themselves, what does it say about the person who comes up with the treatment for the video? Do they value themselves or the women they hire for the video? There are strippers in colleges across America...it would have been more of an interesting argument if you stated that the women who were protesting were strippers.

Some of you are really buggin out! First off, HE cancelled... Even if it WAS Spellman that had cancelled they had every right to... Yes, HE is exploiting these women. Yes, THE WOMEN are fully participating in exploiting themselves - both parties are @ fault. The same mutha muthas on here calling people "bitches" are part of the general problem - placing ZERO value on women, Black women in this case. So you're basically saying, "How dare those bitches @ Spellman have something to say! Who do they think they are?" and THAT is bullshit If Nelly wants support on all fronts he's gotta play the game & watch his ass - he didn't give a fuck about Black women the day he shot that video so WHY should Black women protect him from reaction to images he helped create? I'm sorry for the family's loss but fuck Nelly & fuck his videos. I'm glad people spoke up about that shit - we settle for bool far too often. Stand the fuck up & claim what your worth I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

This is the reason they went after Nelly. You go after the person to has the power to change something and they saw that as Nelly. I don't get why you need to call the women in the videos "bitches". What's that about? I will still advocate for the women in the videos as well because they do have some issues on some levels but that doesn't mean they need be called bitches.

If you go after one person over the video, what are you gonna do when another "Tipdrill"-type comes out by another artist? Then another? Then another? Then another? Y'all should speak out agaisnt women who choose to be in it. You know, get at your own 'sisters'. Like I said earlier, what do you call a women who dont value the image of women? Thats why I called them "bitches". Y'all talkin about me calling them bitches saids alot about my character, but no, it really doesnt cause I have a reason to call them bitches. I dunno, thats on I thing I dont understand about females. Ya'll wanna trip out when a guy calls a chick a bitch, but then y'all call each other bitches. But thats life I guess. I've never called a female a bitch not even in jest. I don't have an issue with addressing the females who are in these videos but I do find it interesting that you don't want to hold the men accountable at all. So the men just a pass. Its ok to exploit women as long as the women want to participate, right? Women do need to be accountable AS WELL AS the men, who many cases develop and encourage these images. I never said anything about your character. I just wanted to know why you find it necessary to call these women bitches. So what do you call men who portray negative images in videos? As for going after one person, it starts with going after one person sometimes. Essence magazine is going after the industry in regards to the images in videos. Its an issue and a problem.

there's another thread addressing this issue. I'm going to continue this over there.

I didn't say you (in particular) called another female a bitch; I meant y'all females in general. You say haven't, but I dont know you personally. And read this carefully: I aint sayin you shouldn't hold the men accountable at all, Im sayin you should address BOTH parties. I've BEEN saying that, not just in my respones to your posts, but in my response to other peoples posts on their thread too. You should've read those too cause you got me repeating myself. What do I call men who portray negative images in videos? Well, I don't call them gentlemen. All I've ever seen is people speaking out against rappers for the imagery of the women in their vidoes (from the C. Delores Tucker days in the early 90s to now - nothing has change). If they gonna do that, then they need to protest against the the women in the video, too, but if they can't do that, then they really shouldn't protest or speak out at all. Thats all Im sayin. You would not like it if someone called them bitches. Look, I ain't tryna hear all that "you wouldn't like it if someone called your mother or sister a bitch" bullshit. My mother and sister ain't even in the video, so there. And me calling them bitches doesnt say alot about me or my attitude. If you wanna know why I called them "bitches" its cause y'all talkin about Nelly dont value the image of women, but the "women" in his "Tipdrill" video obviously don't either. So wouldn't that make them "bitches"? If not, wouldn't y'all be contradicting yourselves? ----- So because the are degrading themselves that makes it okay to call them bitches and that makes it okay for Mr. Nelly to take advantage of the situation. He is an ass and I don't think he would think it was funny if someone was running a card down his sister's rear end even if she wanted to particpate.

Stand the fuck up & claim what your worth You make alot of sense.

Personally, I am grateful that my wife is a strong woman who would never allow me to use the word bitch in her presence or participate in anything that paints her in a negative light.

How ya doin', jb? how did this go from a thread about Nelly's sister to one about bitches and hoes? Whatever kind of person Nelly was, he cared deeply for his sister and I am very sorry she lost her fight.
