Brooke Valentine's new album is HOT Since my last topic got no responses on here, I'll say it again. B. Valentine's debut Chain Letter is ILL.
I love the lyrics, the beats and the grooves on this CD. I give it up for the cuts: Pass Us By I Want You Dead Million Bucks (...ladies shake your hips, get with 'em) Tell Me Why? (You Don't Love Me) Cover Girl Thrill of the Chase If you like Aaliyah, Mya, Monica, Brandy, you'll like this album. Don't tell me I have to provide a picture so you folks will take interest.

I WAS IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS, SO I CAN RELATE.
Sounds like a jam Aaliyah would've made if she were still alive. "Tell Me Why? (You Don't Love Me)" Now you can say I'm addicted I admit I'm afflicted By the way you affected me so hard I am helpless, boy you're just like a drug You're like the illest bug The way you're makin me sick I just can't handle it [Pre chorus (2x)] We steady breaking up, making up Boy, ain't I good enough Tell me what's wrong with us Tell me what's wrong with us [Hook (2x)] I got whatchu want I got whatchu need Tell me why you don't love me So while we going in circles Boy you wanna show boat tellin all of ya friends How you got me trippin' I know I been on a slow route cause you cheated without doubt But I ain't trying to to find another man My 1st reaction was I invested too much time You think I'm packing and you must lost your damn mind [Pre-hook] Where is the love you don't show me I'm in love, but love don't love me Boy I can't believe you cheated I forgive you, then you beat it Come on, come on, come on I just like an idiot, I just can't put up wit this Come on, come on, come on [Pre-hook] [Hook]

Would you say she sounds like Ciara? Does she do crunk n' B?

she's gotta do better than that dumb ass girl fight song....
Why aren't some of these young female artist taking more of an active role in what they have to say.....or maybe they are...or maybe I should just listen to erykah badu and leave it alone...

Oh no! The first single throws a lot of people off. The rest of the album is NOT like "Girlfight." It's not crunkified by any means. She's from Houston, but the album just sounds like contemporary R&B. Reminds me of an updated version of Mya's past albums. A few of the songs have a rock edge such as Thrill of the Chase, Million Bucks and American Girl. The only Ciara sounding track on here is "Taste of Dis" simply because she talks about stepping to the right and the left. I won't lie. Most of the material on this album easily could've been given to Mya or any other one-named R&B girl and would've been succesful. But the songs are cool on here and I like the CD. I recommend listening to it.

OH GOD, this girl is TOTALLY JOCKING VANITY 6 in the vocal department on the song "Playa (feat. Jermaine Dupri)"!
She copies their intonations and everything! Plus, the track "Pass Us By" sounds like some Prince protegee material. Apollonia or Vanity would've torn that shit up! LOL

She co-writes a lot of the tracks on the album, so there is a personal touch to the CD. If you're looking for Lauryn Hill/Alicia Keys type musings, you've found the wrong CD I'm afraid. But if you want some simple R&B to dance to and ride around with, I say check this out. Not mind-blowing, but good stuff.

Believe me, I give a lot of new artists some love but I'm not feeling Brooke.

By simple, I mean "everyday." I wasn't introduced to Brooke through "Girlfight" so maybe that's why I look at her differenlty. To tell you the truth, I have never seen the Girlfight video and I didn't hear Girlfight until I had the full album. I downloaded some of her other songs and I got hooked.

if what u say is true, then they made a huge mistake releasing "girlfight" as the first single cuz that song is simply awful. even the big boi rap can't save it from being unadulterated garbage.

What I say is my truth. I think they released "Girlfight" as the lead single because Lil Jon is the hottest thing out right now and Usher made a killing with his Lil Jon produced single "Yeah!" You can't go any damn where without hearing that song. So it was the natural first choice. But I also think it sucks because most people will dismiss her as some wack "crunk & B" chick when that's not even the case.

They messed up with this first single.

Yeah, I must be nuts for liking this album. Since I'm a black male I guess I should be into 50 Cent's "The Massacre" instead, right? No, I'm gay, I should be into Destiny's Child. WHATEVER.

Maybe Ill listen 2 the album.
I know one thing, Im feelin Ciara's "Oh" at least some1 is dancing for a change in videos. Im putting this "Brooke" girl on the same list of just being a quarter full of vocal talent and the rest is hyped up by the record company with Ciara Christina Milan and Ashanti. Christina Milan's album was more interesting than Brandy's I admit though. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.
