Listen to Mariah's "THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI ALBUM" privews http://www.woolworths.co....d=50387736
Mine again, Circle and Stay the night are the jams! the album has a real 70's/80's soul/pop sound, something Patti or Debarge would have recorded. what do u guys think from the previews.

Hey thanks for the link...Sounds pretty cool, the clips are too short to say too much, but it sounds like a mix between Glitter and Butterfly, both of which I loved. Mariah's one of those artists that I feel obliged to buy all of their stuff anyway, but I can't wait to buy this album

I really liked most of what I heard. A couple tracks sounded like left overs from "Charmbracelet"..only better. The duet with Nelly reminds me of Britney's "BOYS" remix for some reason. This album would've been a great follow-up after "Rainbow". Overall it sounds like Mariah went back to basics if you will. I definitely will be buying this one....might as well...I have all her others. Thanks for the link!

Normally I like an artist evolving, truly do. I used to be a Mariah Carey fan up to the MTV Unplugged and the Xmas album, after that... it's just a confused girl in a woman's body and a goddess's voice. I still love that voice, but the music she is using and the lyrics she sings do not touch me.
Her entire 'down with the crew' attitude since she divorced sounds a bit silly to me after all the classic tracks she did. Still I am glad for her, cuz it seems she is doing the thing she wants. So it's all okay. Go girl.

I'm hyped about Mariah's new cd.
Maybe this will comfort those who are worried about Jermaine Dupri producing Janet's upcoming project.

I haven't really liked anything Mariah's done since Butterfly, but I have to be honest - I like a lot of what I hear on this. I'll likely buy it. But what on there makes you think it sounds like 70s/80s R&B (I Wish You Knew, which does sound like a DeBarge song, and Say Somethin')? I counted two tracks on there that sounded like 80s era R&B, but what Mariah album doesn't have a little bit of that?

I'm looking forward to buying this cd. "it's like that" is really growing on me. I love the Glitter album and I swear if it wasn't associated with the film it would have done better. Good to see Mariah doing what she does best. Hopefully this album will shut some people up!

So it's all okay. Go girl. My thoughts exactly. I always thought that after her Classic songs (that really showed the strength of her voice), the songs she put out seemed like she was trying too hard to be with the "in crowd" of r&b and hip hop. It was just like when Whitney Houston put out that album a while back that had a universal message to all the people who were "hating" on her. It just sounded silly. From what I have heard of this new album, its okay, way better than the stuff she has put out in the past few years, but I think her glory days of when she first started her career are forever in the past. [Edited 3/26/05 18:12pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

i defo feel 2005 is gonna be a big success for mariah-people have been waitin for it (and the wait has been worth it-the full songs are quality) A couple are a bit charmbreacelet, joyride etc but she's made a rally cohesive tight album! proud of u mariah!

I've listened to the album a few times and it's def one her best albums, I remember when she started recording the album Randy Jackson said this album would be the official follow up to her debut album (not sure what that means about everything else that come between)

However, there are a few tracks that take me back to the old-Mariah days. love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

But, he produced "Get Your Number" which is a hot ass song & my favorite at the moment. love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

He also produced "We Belong together'" which is going to be a bigger hit than "it's like that"`so JD is doing too bad, shake it off is cool it's very tailored to radio which is why it's meant to be third single in the U.S,and "can i get ur number" outside the u.s. La Reid at the press release for the album said there will be 5 singles. stay the night might be the fourth single.
