So What the Fuss? Breaking Records

Stevie's long awaited new single, "So What The Fuss," from his highly anticipated album, A Time To Love, has registered the highest number of debut spins in the history of the Billboard Adult R&B chart, debuting at #13 on the chart in its first week of release. "So What The Fuss" surpassed the previous record, Anita Baker's "You're My Everything" (released July, 2004), garnering the largest overall spin-increase in the decade-long history of the format.

A Time To Love is the first studio release from Stevie in nearly ten years, featuring songs such as the smash single "So What The Fuss," which features Prince on guitar and En Vogue as the guest background vocalists. A Time To Love is scheduled to hit stores May 3rd!

if this crosses over to the billboard top 40, i'd be surprised...it seems they got a big old can of cock-block that keeps anything halfway decent from rising up the charts biggrin

I have to agree i love Stevie to death, and i really do like the song but So what the fuss, is being billed as one of the greatest funk songs ever. Its a real good song but come on let's wait for some other stevie joints to come out. Lets not put all our eggs in this basket.

One Love!!

it's not that hot, but compared to everything i've heard from stevie since, oh, the mid-to-late-70s, it's move-over-bacon material to my ears.

Exactly. They can't let people follow Stevie's trend of making "music", it would cost too much money and the record labels and themselves would make less profits.

It's great to hear that the song seems to be accepted by a wider crowed, but I have to admit, my expectation were so high my immediate reaction was just awe and love for the song. It cooled down and I think the song is ok. Not bad, not great. Still the the best in decades, but I hope for more.

The song is not the best Stevie has done but it better than a lot of the crap on the radio. RnB really needed an old-fashion jam and this song fits the bill.

Yep!They will probably do a remix for the single with 50 or Ludacris to reach the young demographic.Sad but real!

I have to hear the whole thing -- only heard snippets, but from what I've heard it doesn't sound as good as, say, "Chemical Love," the last song of his I loved.

I agree with the overall sentiment here - it's not his best, but it's good and still better than most of what's out there now. I'ma buy it when it comes out.

I think it's a damn good song. No not 70s stevie good, but we shouldn't be expecting that. Any artist will run out of ideas if their career lasts long enough, and this is especially true of 20th+ century anglo-american popular music. I mean practically all great artists/performers of the rock era have had about a 7-10 year prime, but many of them have continued to make good music with occasional glimpses of greatness. I'm just happy Stevie's ACTIVELY RELEASING MUSIC once again.

Didn't care for it so much when I first heard it, but whenever it comes on the radio I find myself jammin out and singing along... same thing that happened with Musicology.
