Roxy Music - Albums, Songs & Stories This is a band I heard for several years now, but never got into their story behind the music. Please share your thoughts. I love their undergroundish pop flavour.

I used to be mad about them around 87-90. I haven't listened to a Roxy Music album in many years, though...
Siren is generally considered their peak, and it's my favourite Roxy album, though you could easily make a case for Country Life and For Your Pleasure. Manifesto and Flesh & Blood are the ones to avoid - they're not without redeeming qualities, but they're definitely the ugly ducklings of this family. Favourite song? I'd go with Do The Strand (people who only know Avalon and Ferry's solo work might be suprised by how hard this band could kick at times) and Sentimental Fool. Another personal favourite: Ferry's "world-weary traveller on heavy narcotics" voice on Song for Europe always makes me laugh (in a good way). [Edited 3/25/05 12:39pm]

BlueNote [Edited 3/25/05 4:14am] Favourite five Roxy Music albums: Stranded For Your Pleasure Roxy Music Siren Country Life The others are pretty great too. The weakest is "Flesh & Blood". There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently
