Great film and soundtrack.

I recently saw the Broadway musical and it was so horrible that it was funny. They sang the songs all proper, it was like being in English class. For instance, when a singer sings the word "working" on a record, it usually comes out as "workin'". In the stage play, they sing it and you can clearly hear it as "working" with the "ing" coming out very clearly. I spent more time laughing at the singing than I did at the acting.

Great song by Barry Gibb. The strongest cut on the album, which I have.

a little trivia about the the song "Grease"...

That's Peter Frampton playing guitar on it.Barry composed this song around the same time that he and his brothers (with Peter) were filming 'Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band'.

lol now who's gonna be the person to start a thread about that movie and soundtrack? wink

Did you guys know that, when they were casting for this film, they considered Marie Osmond and Suzanne Somers for the role of "Sandy"? It was John Travolta who pressured them to get Olivia for the role.

Marie Osmond would have been perfect for the role....she's pretty and she can sing. But I think it worked better with an Austrailan actress/singer.Sandy's accent is very charming, making her appear wholesome and pure compared to her (trash-talking) American co-stars lol

When I saw 'Grease' in the theater when I was eight years old and Olivia appeared on screen in that leather outfit, I knew I was straight. Hot damn!

Or does owning her greatest hits CD make me gay?

Now I'm confused. confuse

Of course she looks good in the leather, but I'm refering to the bobby socks and the poodle on the dress shit. That's the "getup" I'm talking about. That didn't really fit her. Now, the leather, yeah, that was more her image.

I saw Olivia back in October or November at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and the audience consisted of 80% gay men and 20% old white ladies.

So, yes, I guess, she is a gay icon.

When I was nine I got this weird fascination with XANADU the movie and the soundtrack. That was probably the first sign that pointed in the direction of my gayness... eek and in college, a roommate and I used to watch it on VHS and get stoned and laugh out loud during the horrid dialougue scenes but we would both get all serious and sing along during the musical numbers.

I should start my Xanadu appreciation thread.

As for the Grease soundtrack, I must admit that I used to get into it when I was kid. I remember seeing the 20th Anniversary Edition in the theatre because I had only seeing it on TV. Let me tell you, watching this on the big screen, while stone out of my ass, was horrid. The entire movie looks really cheap on the big screen...

Yeah, isn't it funny how none of the actors in this movie were actually teenagers? I think Stockard Channing (who played "Rizzo") was 32 years old when this movie was made!! I think Olivia was in her late 20s.

i loved Grease...one of the few "white" movies that used to get tons of airplay at the majority black theaters here in Baltimore during the late 70's/early 80's (you paid $3 and get to watch two movies back to back from noon to midnite)..anywhoo...was watching a couple satirical movies on DVD and picked up on some Grease jabs--

Not Another Teenage Movie--which parodied just about every teen film from 1980-1999, they have the big great dance at the prom, which is pretty much copied from the big dance scene in Grease...and the one guy says "you would never think every kid in this school was a professional dancer"

Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th-- a kinda cheesy pooor man's Scream/Scary Movie ripoff, three students are in the garage and one starts to do a parody of Greased Lightning...the other two look at him kinda stupid and says, "what a fag". (this movie has a few other chuckles in it, since Coolio plays a verrry Prince-ly character named Principal Interest...best to watch it when you're drunk though lol )
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

I think you can get away with being a big Janet fan and not get labeled as gay. It seems to me that white pop artists get the gay tag more. Then again, other than Janet which other Balck artists are considered pop as opposed to hip hop or R&B? I can't think of any.
