I must admit, when I saw this thread topic I was all rolleyes

Bjork just seems out of control with official releases. On one hand it's nice as it eliminates the need to search for bootlegs. On the other hand she releases so many DVDs/compilations/box sets that I no longer can bother to keep up.

But, reading what is ON this set, I think it'll be worth picking up. Cool-e-oh!

I can see where you're coming from, especially with the live albums and dvd's. They all just kinda got released at once. That can be tough to absorb financially. But it's all stuff that the fans have been requesting and I don't think she's really overdoing it. She's basically making sure there's a document of every tour, one live album and one tour dvd to go with each. I think that's generous but utilitarian. And then there are a few documentaries and Volumen - all good stuff. The thing I don't get is how people complain about infinite box sets. There are only 2 that I can think of - Family Tree and Live. What seems a little excessive to me (and Bowie is even more guilty of this), is releasing the same thing in different forms, i.e. the live albums separately or this Medulla 2 disc version when there was already one for the documentary alone.

I'm not that a big a Björk fan (I only have the studio albums and the Volumen DVD) so all those extra releases seem like overkill to me, but man, if Prince released the equivalent to what Björk has, I would lap it all up in one hot minute.

nod I bought "Volumen" on video RIGHT BEFORE the age of DVDs (same with Janet's live "TVR").

I used to have Volumen on VHS, but I sold it when the DVD was released with the newer videos in 5.0 surround sound. Same with Janet's TVR concert video.

Bjork wants her fans to have the freedom to choose to buy what they want. She doesn't expect everyone to collect it ALL. She just wants it all accessible. shrug

whistle I thought I could organize freedom...
HOW Scandinavian of me!

I think it's just that selection of material overwhelms me to the point that I just ignore it all. But, she IS being generous to the fans and removing the need for bootlegs. So good on her.

I just need to trust y'all about what I need to buy and what I can continue to ignore smile

That seems nice but she has to know (or maybe she is unware) that her fans for the most part are hardcore and completists. I'm a fan but haven't bought a record in a while, so I'm not sure if I'm an actual fan or just someone her bought her "popular" albums. I don't think there really is anything wrong with it. I think it's better to release it all then keeping good stuff in the valut! You go, Bjork!
