I still know all the words to the preamble to the Constitution thanks to Schoolhouse Rock.

I guess I'm part of the old club now too. sad

Everytime i happen to hear or see one of these, I have to laugh. I used to love Schoolhouse Rock. I would watch cartoons on Saturday afternoon when I was a kid and groove to Schoolhouse Rock. My favorite is "I'm Only a Bill" yes, I'm only a bill sitting on Capitol Hill.
If I ever have Kids, I'll be buying them the DVD since they don't air them anymore.

I dug them all, but the best was Conjunction Junction, baybeee!

Putting these type of lyrics together with a good melody and hook makes it easier for kids to learn. I loved this stuff on Saturday mornings.

Wow -- great thread, paligap!

I have very fond memories of these cartoons -- looked forward to them every Saturday morning!

I also have that DVD (I've had it for over two years now). I still watch those cartoons every so often -- the songs are great.

And I also learned the Preamble by listening to Schoolhouse Rock. If someone asked the class to recite the Preamble when I was in grade school, they were about to be treated to a song...

Mr. Morton is the subject of my sentence and what the predicate says, he does. nod

Mr. Morton walks.
Mr. Morton talks.
Mr. Morton reads.

Mr. Morton loves!

Tom Yohe, the man that was one-half of the team behind the Schoolhouse Rock shorts, spent his final years working at the same nyc ad agency as me . . . He looked like an angelic grandfather. I used to occasionlly bump into him in the hallways or elevators, and would nod hello to him. He'd always smile and be cordial (unlike many of the uptight assholes who populated this particular company) . . .I had every intention of dropping by his office at some point, to thank him for Interjections (WOW) at least.

Sadly, Mr. Yohe passed and I never had the chance to show my gratitude.

Wow, really? That's cool that he was so nice.....

Yeah, I'd love to get to talk to one of the "Schoolhouse" creators...I missed Bob Dorough (Schoolhouse Rock songwriter/vocalist) when he came to town with his jazz trio...
