Z Cult favorite - "Fly Like An Eagle"/Steve Miller Band/ "Dreamweaver"/Gary Wright

Both of these songs are similar in sound. Both are funky and both are very typical of the mid 70's; Being that they both have that "futuristic" element in their songs. That kinda "outerspace" vibe created on the keyboard. Which, as a kid, I dug that sound. Still do. I have always loved these two songs. Especially "Fly Like An Eagle". I used to skateboard in empty swimming pools to this. Both songs were from 76 and both songs were crossover hits. They just always reminded me of each other. Who here likes these two?

Love "Fly Like An Eagle", and consider it essential.. never associated "Dream Weaver" with it but I love the intro and outro to the Gary Wright tune. "Dream Weaver" itself is cheesy compare to "Fly Like An Eagle" though. Hell, compared to anything. neutral

I like the "Space Intro" that precedes "Fly Like An Eagle" as well.

Yeah, both are great songs and bring back lots of good memories too. I'm much more of a Steve Miller fan than Gary Wright though. Steve Miller rocks!

nod I agree w/you BG these songs definitely had a futuritstic soul vibe going. These jams also epitomizes the freethinking spirit of the 70's when weed wasn't called chronic but refer blunt. Not that I know but this sort of thing. lol

Yep, the intro and outro parts of "Dreamweaver" is very similar to the intro and outro to "Fly Like An Eagle". You got it!

nod Yeah, Fly like an Eagle is the Cut!

I liked Dreamweaver, but the Killer Gary Wright cut for me was "My Love is Alive" !! That was smokin'!! headbang

"Well, I think it's time to get ready
To realize just what I have found
I have lived only half of what I am
It's all clear to me now

My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turnin'
My love is alive
My love is alive, ya, ya, ya
..."

That one, for me, anyway, is a little closer to Steve's Fly Like An Eagle in feel...

but indeed, Fly like an Eagle --back in the day, that was one the rock cuts that all the brothas in the black community HAD to own---just like Bennie and the Jets and David Bowie's Fame...and, to an extent, Edgar Winter's Frankenstein we would be discussing these, right along with the latest P-Funk Jams.....

Both songs are great and they really do have a kinda futuristic "spacey" feel to them, which I love.

Man,I dig both of those songs."Fly Like An Eagle" is hypnotic and spacey-sounding....really ahead of it's time.It got alot of airplay on R&B stations, and even appeared on the R&B charts.

"Dreamweaver" is also spacey and futuristic-sounding.You can get lost in both of these songs.
