When are we going to get a Pulp B-Sides collection? Am I the only one waiting for Pulp to release a B-Sides collection? From the tracks that I've heard many of their B-Sides were terrific. If Suede can release a two cd collection, so can Pulp. After a band breaks up don't they usually round up all the stray tracks and release them? What are they waiting for?

I just don't think there's much interest in the band anymore - even their hard-core fan base has shrunk to a small rump, I think. Too bad, as I thought We Love Life was about 3/4 brilliant.

I agree. It took me a while to "get" that CD. But it did eventually click with me and I really like it now. They should do a bsides collection. I'd go for that.

I think that all of their albums since His 'N' Hers were terrific, We Love Life included.

I'm always willing to have patience with difficult, dark albums. My problem with T.I.H. wasn't that is was demanding and grim - I just didn't think it was any good. We Love Life really got me back into Pulp. It didn't hurt that We Love Life was produced by Scott Walker - I think he's god-like. I'm sure there will be a Pulp compilation coming down the pike at some not-too-distant time. They've never had one as far as I know (barring some quickies of their eighties material that were rushed out to capitalize on their mid-nineties success), so their record co. is bound to fill in that gap. Whether we ever see an "odds n' sods" type comp is a little more difficult to say...

I think they even used the album versions not the single versions, which always bugs me. I have to say that This Is Hardcore is probably my favourite Pulp album. That's the one that I've had the longest and I probably still listen to it more than any of their other albums.

I hear that all the time from people...I dunno, that record just doesn't work for me. I will say that I love the peaks on it. Like a Friend, in particular, was a song I didn't pay a lot of attention to at first (undoubtedly because it was the last track on an album I didn't listen to much). I really just discovered how much I love that song about a year or so back... [Edited 3/19/05 14:38pm]

It's not bad, but it's not great either. Did you know that "Like A Friend" was a bonus track? In the UK it was a B-Side and it wasn't on This Is Hardcore. It's also probably my favourite song on This Is Hardcore. They have many other great B-Sides, you should try to download some of them.

I've never really been the kind of music obsessive that would scour through discount bins or anything. I'm sure that I lose out on hearing a lot of great music, but I usually just don't have the patience to wade through all the endless re-mixes and alternate takes just to find the odd jewel in the rough. Actually, if you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate it if you'd take a second to post some song titles of b-sides you recommend.

I did have most of them but only got a chance to listen to them a few times before I lost them. The 1994 era ones are, in my opinion, the best. But there are some great later ones as well. Here's a list of most of their B-Sides from 1994-2001 (excluding live tracks and remixes) 1994 Deep Fried In Kelvin You're A Nightmare Street Lites The Babysitter Your Sister's Clothes Seconds His 'n' Hers 1995 P.T.A. (Parent Teacher Association Ansaphone Mile End (also on the Trainspotting soundtrack) 1998 Tomorrow Never Lies Laughing Boy Ladies' Man The Professional Cocaine Socialism That Boy's Evil (probably the most un-Pulp like track I've ever heard. It's kind of electro-pop, but very repetitive) We Are The Boyz (also on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack) 2001 Yesterday (not the Beatles song) Forever In My Dreams other non LP tracks include She's Dead All Time High (cover of a theme to one of the James Bond films) Born To Cry (From the film Notting Hill) Le Roi De Fourmis My Body May Die If you can, try downloading some of these, I'm sure you will find at least a few that you dig.
