Maybe because she played her? Selena had an amazing voice, and I think - given time and proper direction - she likely would have made a successful transition to the pop world. Her English language debut album wasn't great, but it showed potential, and it really highlighted her beautiful voice. Thank God Gregory Nava chose to have Jennifer Lopez lip synch her songs. She was amazing in the role, but she could not have duplicated her voice.

I cry when i hear Dreamin' Of You, it's so emotional. or when I watch the movie, I cry on that part when she's singing the song and then it stops and she's in the hospital I miss her deeply. She was SOO beautiful and SO talented. And they choose a person who looks SHIT like her and has practically the talent my foot would have at singin' to play her part in a movie. it makes me fucking angry, that shit is bogus! I can't believe they did that! but it's over and done with. She is FAR better off than all of us. I love you Selena (it's not like she can read this anyway ) rest in peace boosty caca deleva! that was funny. ------;;;;;'

[Edited 4/4/05 22:38pm] True. It didn't give her her start, but it was the film role that really got her noticed and proved her ability as a dramatic actress. Too bad she's all but fucked that up by now.
