anyone else waiting 4 a new Dylan studio album?

hey

Am I the only one who thinks it's about time for a new studio album from Bob Dylan? If I'm not mistaken his last one is already 4 years behind us ("love and theft"). Now I enjoyed all the bootleg series releases that have been released inbetween, but I do hope some new music is comming our way soon.

There's a new album due out in September/October. Expect another round of remastered albums to come out this year too.

After I saw the most awful concert of this man last year, I really don't care whatever he does. I won't buy it anyway.

That's just Bob Dylan: incredible high's, incredible low's...one night he can bring the house down and the next show is awful. that's just something ya have to cope with if you're into dylan's music.

Many people told me that. I must have had bad luck. So be it, but I won't ever spend money on the guy again. Only for those classic records that are still missing in my cd-collection...

Fifteen years ago or so Bob Dylan gave the single most disengaged, indifferent performance I've ever witnessed. I walked away shaking my head and thinking "what the hell did I just see." I'm pretty well-versed in Dylan's material up to 1983 or so, as was the person who attended the show with me, and there were several times where we had to compare notes so we could figure out what song he was playing. (Me: "What the hell was that?" Him: "I think it was Masters of War...") Everything he played sounded like a toneless drone.

Since then, I've been fortunate enough to see him on two more occasions: one of those concerts was, without question, the most astonishing, intense marathon performance I've seen by anyone. I felt like I'd spent three hours in a Napalm Death mosh-pit afterwards.

Dylan is one of the great performers of the last fifty years, but he can be very lazy and erratic.

Well, I think the concert I saw was of the first kind you described. I've always defended him when people said "this guy can't sing", but that night rolleyes it was one boring drone, I'de rather listen to my refrigerator at night !
