George Michael-Jesus to a Child. It's about his first love who died of AIDS. Sad song. Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

That's been like my theme song for the last 10 years. But I'm unsure of a Velvet Underground song titled If you close your eyes... Yeah, I messed up the title. Maybe depressing isn't the right word, but it sure seems sad to me. Everytime I hear it I get a little down. But in a good way. I think maybe Lou should have written more songs for Mo. It might have been neat to hear her sing one per album. I guess that's true. There is a little bit of melancholy in her voice. But its also hopeful. and yes! it would have been nice to hear more from her. |

Don McLean -Vincent
Geez, whenver i have a hard day at work or can't pay my bills, this depressing ass song puts all in perspective lol Starry starry night paint your palette blue and grey look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills sketch the trees and the daffodils catch the breeze and the winter chills in colors on the snowy linen land. And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now. Starry starry night flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue. Colors changing hue morning fields of amber grain weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand. And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. perhaps they'll listen now. For they could not love you but still your love was true and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night. You took your life as lovers often do; But I could have told you Vincent this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you. Starry starry night portraits hung in empty halls frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the stranger that you've met the ragged men in ragged clothes the silver thorn of bloddy rose lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow. And now I think I know what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they're not list'ning still perhaps they never will. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

This is an exquisitely beautiful, piercingly sad song. Have you heard Crossroads by him ~ another amazing, deeply contemplative song filled with sadness.

you know maybe I'm listening to the wrong songs, but I just can't get into her music. Any album suggestions? For me, it isn't about getting into specific albums, but having the ability to relate to her pain and rage (maybe not always the safest territory). She conveys pain from her very core in an animalistic, pure manner. I'm not familiar with all of her work like Anxiety and have never seen her perform but she is on my list for this year. The friend who introduced the work to me gave me warning to not listen alone in the dark with headphones the first time. Of course, I did exactly that and the results were, to say the least, terrifying. She has a wicked sense of humor and an amazingly broad vocal range. Not for the faint of heart but an important addition for certain periods in my life.

I forgot what exactly I listened to, but the whole album was acapella. I did hear her version of "I Put a Spell on You" live....I guess so far she's not what I expected. But I said the same thing about Moloko after not giving them a long enough chance....now they're becoming one of my favorites. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I don't really know what Beck's 'Runners Dial Zero' is about, I think it's about death/suicide, but that has to be the most creepy/depressing song I've ever heard.
Actually, the first time I really heard it was in the afternoon, a kind of golden light fell through my window as the sun was going down. I had fallen asleep while Mutations was playing and woke up to Runners Dial Zero. Had to turn that off.
