Deniece Williams

How many people admire this underrated R&B diva?

She has an amazing voice! Songs like "Silly", "Free", "It's gonna take a miracle", etc.

Most people know her the Footloose song "Let's hear it for the boy", but she had so much more.

I also heard that she and the late Minnie Riperton were friends back in the day.

I started a thread on her about a month saying what a classic "silly" is! She has a great voice but I wouldn't call myself a fan as I don't know enough of her music.

Columbia/Legacy put out a "Best Of" collection for her in 1996.

Correction - she has an amazing voice. She's still around, but she's mostly doing Christian music these days. Personally speaking, I think hers is the best voice in contemporary R&B; better than Whitney or Mariah or anyone else. This Is Niecy is a classic album. Maurice's production and her voice are a nice match.

It's a pretty good collection, too.

One of the best voices in R&B history. I didn't know she sang backup for Stevie Wonder.

nod A lot people didn't know that Deniece along with Minnie Rippleton, and Angela Winbush were at one time backup singers for Stevie. Talk about vocal powerhouses.

I love lots of Deniece Williams' music. "Let's Hear It For The Boy" was one of her worst.

I totally agree with u 100% blacmajic. I had the honor 2 see her perform at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. She opened 4 Frankie Beverly. That was one of the best concerts I ever attended. Denise has an amazing voice. When it comes 2 singing she’s the only one that gets as close 2 Minnie Riperton. She is diffidently underrated. My girl got skills wink

Yep, I know they sang back ground on various tracks on SITKOL and I'm sure they sang on Fulfillingness'First Finale as well.

Vain, I beg to differ. Actually, I didn't care for alot of her duets w/Johnny Mathis myself b/c it felt like damn elevator music after awhile.
