It was dance pop part 2. Yet I still prefer late 80's-esrly 90's.

I dug a few backstreet tracks though. "everybody" is class.

All them max martin songs got annoying though. Plus Nsync sucked.

The video for "Everybody" is the

coolest.

I was and still am a fan of the Teen Pop wave of the late 20th century. As a producer/artist I did not connect with the grunge/heroin rock era.It was refreshing to hear and see something upbeat. The pop explosion provided a forum for songwriters and producers. That Max Martin/Sweden pop sound was good fun!!

nod

People like to knock pop music because it's generally super-produced, catchy fluff. But if that's what it's supposed to be, then what's the problem? Backstreet Boys never claimed to be making deep statements with their songs, *N SYNC never said you'd find the meaning of life in theirs. Britney and Christina never attempted to say they did songs based on their harsh personal experiences. Not all music has to have deep meaning, or really any meaning at all.

Pop performers get a lot of flack for not writing their own material (note: most do write at least a few of their own tunes) or playing instruments. But again, since they never claimed to, where's the problem? I can understand the objections if they claimed to play instruments, write or sing, (a la Milli Vanilli and Ashlee Simpson) but since that doesn't happen, people are bitching about nothing, really.

Like it or not, pop does have it's place in the Grande CD Player of Life, and will always be around, in some form or another.

I'll admit this

Those kids may have been processed like that shitty sliced cheese.

But as an early teen during those days, the music was so much more happier and brighter. NSync, BSB, etc just made MTV so much more happier than what it is today. Today it's all about these faux punk bands and faux teen rockers and they just make everything so depressing for teens and myself.

I liked it when people sang about the girl they loved as opposed to the girl they want to die sad

I've got way more respect about a pop act that's upfront about being pure sugar than I ever will for faux-punk bullshit like Avril, Good Charlotte, etc. Those guys are pop as hell, but in deep denial about it. At least a boyband can stand up and say "Yeah, we do happy, fluffy pop music. Got a problem with that?" biggrin

biggrin I didn't get into this dance pop BUT that song should be one of those "how to create a pop song" sorta songs. The bridge is class.

"am I original (yeah).....etc

I bought 2 of thier singles at the time. "everybody" and "larger then life". Infact, I found that i still had the video to "larger then life" the other day. I still love that song. Video has a awesome dance sequence in the middle. Musta been a hella of an expensive video too.

If never made a secret of, nor have I ever been embarrased about the fact that I enjoy the music of NSYNC, I have all their albums and a lot of singles...so what ? It's like literature...It can't be Hemmingway, twain or dickens all the time...sometimes you just want to read a comic.

I like an occasional song by Britney, but never bought into the "genre" as a whole. I did, however, think one of the guys in Five was sorta kinda hottish.

I can't be bothered to look up the figures at the mo', but at the time it was one of the most expensive music videos ever produced. I believe it still is, actually.
