Tears for Fears : bombing in the UK

What's all this about??

New single stiffs at No.40 and album only debuts at No.45 ??

One of our best acts from the 80s and they're being ignored.

Is this a case of little or no record company support? Anyone any views?

LoL

I dont even wanna know how you found that pic.

Anyways. They are has beens only coming together for the money; DOH! That reflects on the music, I suppose.

Btw, I love what Bjorn of Abba said of split up bands coming together again; "Let there be ONE band that does not come back together." I kinda liked that. Wish Orzabal and Smith had listened to that.

i could care less about what abba says about reuniting bands...if the music is quality, then so be it.....

did anyone else see how all the abba members attended some event and everyone there went crazy? what was that?

Not surprised. The album sounds like an ELO tribute album.

No, I said it sounded like ELO, not the Beatles - in other words, a fifth rate, big hair retread of the Beatles. Disappointing album, but hardly surprising given the not exactly blinding quality of Curt Smith's solo output. They should've joined ABC and Kajagoogoo on an 80s reunion tour.

and what exactly is wrong with ABC?? Martin Fry is one of the most underated songwriters of his generation.

Anyway... back to the topic. Everyone Loves a Happy Ending was released in the US last year but only now in the UK. I have barely heard any radio play, not even Radio2 (!). It smacks of (a) no record company support and (b) the album being released too long after that Mad World cover raised their profile again.

Still at least they made the Top40 - 3 places higher than Cinnamon Girl!

I was thinkin maybe it woulda been good to have a few more blues-y rock, wank-off guitar solos on there, myself...

nod

"Lexicon of Love" was ok, but most of their output is shit. Sorry, but he's underrated for a good reason: he ain't that good.

The album's got nothing to really recommend it outside TFF's hardcore fanbase - i.e: people who own Curt Smith's lost second album. lol
