SADE: Stronger than Pride

Forgive me if this has already been discussed many times . . .but this amazingly beautiful record is helping me get through one long-ass, sleep-deprived day at work. I think it's aged so well . . .

I adore that record. 5 stars. I'm really not a huge fan of her first 2 albums, but this one really does it for me. She lost the cool, overly sophisticated stance and became sexy and real with this album. "I Never Thought I'd See The Day" is one of the all time best songs.

Sade is an amazing singer/songerwriter. I love her voice and her music. I thoroughly respect her too for staying true to her art and not becoming a pop ho like so many have.

"turn my back on you" is sublime, as is the title track. isn't "haunt me" on that album too, or is it on "promise"? i forget. either way, i absolutely adore that song, too. i was fortunate enough to hear her do that song live, and it was phenomenal.

Yup, this the album that finally made me like Sade...up until then, I thought she was merely OK....But Stronger than Pride and Love Deluxe are tight!

I LOVE Sade, & have ever since Smooth Operator.

Stronger Than Pride is my 2nd favorite album, after Promise.
the title track is AMAZING, it totally takes me to another place..
the other BRILLIANT tracks on the album are:

Haunt Me
Nothing Can Come Between Us
Turn My Back On You
Keep Looking

"Paradise" actually gets on my nerves - especially that repetitive bassline, which I believe does not change AT ALL for the ENTIRE song.
in several of Sade's best songs, she repeats the lyrics & it's fine; to me, in this song it's 1 time it doesn't work.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

No. But the sound quality is definitely improved. Especially on the first 3.

why did i think that for some reason at least one of the reissues had bonus tracks? confuse they do sound good, though. i have the 'stronger than pride' reissue and it's great. and they're available affordably, too - usually they're in the sale bins.

I love Sade!!!!! I wish she went on tour. She´s one of the very few artist I am dying to see live!!!! She´s beautiful, natural, breathtaking!

She did tour in 2001.

But we'll probably have to wait another decade to see her again. Timeless goddesses have the luxury of taking their time.

I absolutely ADORE this song (especially the Caribbean-style "remix") and the album. My fav cut off this album HAS to be Clean Heart, often UNDERlooked & underappreciated gem!!!! Among all of her albums, though, I think I might rate Diamond Life just a hair over this one, followed by Promise at #3, then followed very closely by Love Deluxe!! Lovers Rock was okay, but it just didn't hold my attention like her previous four did, unfortunately. It's not "bad", by any stretch of the imagination, but it just wasn't on that same level.
