Jack Russell is a great rock vocalist. Mark Kendall is a very respected and talented blues rock guitarist...talented, unlike most of the sorry bands that are mentioned here. Cheese metal is Glam Metal, and Great White is not glam nor metal. Don't judge Great White on only one song you've heard! Sorry, sweetheart, but I've heard many of their songs. My brother was a fan, and guess what? All their songs suck.

I heard they had a song called "lip lock rock" back in their glam days. Did you know Pantera also used to be glam. Can someone post a pic?

.. That's a shame. I saw their concert a few weeks ago and it was awesome. The guys are still in their prime (ok, maybe 3 out of the 4 - Mick Mars sounded aweseome but his doctors have said he should probably retire b/c of his spinal cord disease or something like that) It was one of the most rauchy shows I've ever been to and it rocked my world! Of course I also laughed at 40 year olds in the audience who were decked out in spandex. THere were a few men who brought their young kids - couldn't figure that out. And of course, the girls with the 1988 hair that were letting men around them take pictures of them flashing their boobs. I opted not to do that - perhaps if Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx had brought their "Boob Cam" out to my section, I would have reconsidered. [Edited 3/19/05 9:06am] Motley Crue are not all bad as musicians, but I'm not crazy about what they represent. Sort of like Guns 'n' Roses (who I like a lot), they've said & done some things that make themselves look like immature racist sexist drug addicted morons. Check this song out at:

He wrote good songs and there's no doubt that he was talented but I wonder what he'd be doing now if he were still alive. Look at Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam. They were also regarded and great musicians and I know they still have a huge fan base but they're not really "popular" any more. Axl on the other hand in my opinion was very talented and sexy as hell! They are 2 very different artists so it's hard to even compare them but let's just say I prefer G n'R over Nirvana!

Actually Pearl Jam's latest offerings have been a nice mixture of artsy fartsyness with good old fashion rock. I was never much of a fan of them though. I agree--Kurt Cobain is no genius. But I really dig his music. I own a good deal of Nirvana Stuff from Bleached up to the newer stuff and some boots. I don't consider them genius's though. What Nirvana was, to me, is the last nail in the coffin for the excesses of White American Rock music during the late 80's and early 90's. I would peg Jane's Addiction and Post Modern and College acts as being the preceding nails. But it's the last nail that seals the coffin shut, and cuts off the airflow. I smiled joyfully when Nevermind knocked MJ's album off the top of the charts. And I smiled even more joyfully witnessing the slow and painful demise of bands who at one time thought they where invincable. Nirvana was symbolic of the youth at the time deciding they wanted to change the landscape of what was being fed to them. Ofcourse, they had the first punch and coperate america delivered the second. After Nirvana, all sorts of "grunge" and grungy acts started invading our space, like Stone Temple Pearl Jam and finally that aweful aweful aweful band that somehow sold millions--Creed.
