Brilliant tune, and a very credible version. Jimmy Webb's finest song, I think.

I know I'm not going to win any allies by praising Glen Campbell around here, but this is as good a time as any to say that I really love his versions of Galveston and By The Time I Get to Phoenix as well.
Granted, he has a strongly pronounced "Pat Boone-ish" quality, but he had (at the beginning of his career) very solid taste in material.

Glen is cool. Many folks don't know that he was a hot-shot session guitar player back in the day and is on quite a few very popular records. (Strangers in the Night, I'm A Believer).
An acquaintance of mine from the Florida days,... ...Steve Turner, played on Glen Campbell's records from Basic ('78) through Old Home Town ('83). He was also his live drummer for quite a bit. Steve also played on records by Lou Rawls, Rocky Burnette, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, The Statler Brothers, George Jones, Marty Stuart and Don Williams. It's funny that he's been playing with so many country artists because back in Florida he was the most kick ass fusion drummer around. If you crossed Harvey Mason with Mike Clark that was Steve Turner. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Absolutely - it's pretty easy to mock Glen Campbell, but he's a truly gifted musician - a skilled guitarist who had a great ear for material and arrangements. While I'm sure everybody already knows this, I'll mention it for the record - he was also a member of the Beach Boys touring band while Brian W was in the beginning stages of his drug meltdown.

I love that Jimmy Webb tune! Funny, I mentioned the group Prefab Sprout during an earlier thread, and that song is one of composer/lead singer Paddy McAloon's favorite tunes...

Paddy loves Jimmy Webb, and with good reason. Have you ever heard any of Webb's albums? I'm completely unfamiliar with them, myself.
