I'll have to think about that. I was only 13.

By then I was buying and listening to the music of:

Prince
Madonna
Janet Jackson
The Cure
Depeche Mode
U2
INXS
Aerosmith

I'd say those 8 probably.

It was all about Madonna, Janet and Paula. I didn't really get my first album until '88.

Jesus and Mary Chain
The Church
The Go-Betweens
Front 242
Ministry
Nitzer Ebb
The Replacements
The Fall
The Feelies
Roxy Music

Most of them hold up pretty well I think, except for Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb, who now just seem hopelessly goofy. Ah well, I thought it was cool at the time.

Everybody loves the star
When he’s on the top
But noone ever comes around
When he starts to drop

But you were someone special
You stuck through thick and thin
But I was much too busy
Trying to shine
To let your love shine in

Let you slip away
I must have been insane
Stop in the name of love
Don’t make me live my life in vain

Well, I was lucky enough to have had some pretty good influences on my listening habits when I was younger. My middle school years were pretty dreadful, though - I still have a copy of Twisted Sister's You Can't Stop Rock n' Roll collecting dust in my mom's basement.

See, I think I was too naive at the time to understand that. My school was a bit strange though. All of the coolest, most popular kids were wearing "Head On A Door", "DM 101" and "Substance" t-shirts. So I think I had a scewed opinion about alternative music at the time.

And I'm sure I have some relics from my junior high lying around as well, i.e. Milli Vanilli, Young MC, Skid Row. lol

I agree. I still love most of those songs. One of the few hair bands that are still cool.
