Stevie/Prince - So What The Fuss - flying up the charts! The new Stevie Wonder track with Prince on the guitar is flying up the Urban AC chart.
“FUSS” A MUST: As expected, the first single from Stevie Wonder’s first new studio album in nearly a decade is causing quite a stir at radio. “So What the Fuss,” featuring Prince on guitar and En Vogue on backing vocals, bowed at #14 on the R&R/Mediabase Urban AC chart with a total of 457 spins, making it the chart’s highest debut and biggest increase ever. The track is receiving particularly strong support in major markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. Wonder’s new album, A Time to Love (Motown/Universal) is set for release on May 3. (3/15p)

I think this is the best song stevie's released in a long time, and personally I don't see how it sounds at all like Not just knee deep as some have said. Besides which how many times has Prince made a song that sounded like an old P-funk or Sly song and nobody seemed to care, and stevie was a major inspiration to the parliament/later funkadelic sound anyway. | |

I think it's fair to say that his albums post Hotter Than July have been inconsistant. But each one has a few decent tracks. Maybe his new one will be a little more solid. I think his post Hotter than July period was consistent, in that they were consistently mediocre (by stevie standards) with occasional hints of his 70s magic. | |

Just hear it this morning for the first time [I don't listen much to the radio] and I must say I like it a lot. Didn't know that Prince was playing on it though. Glad to see Stevie is back on the airways, now maybe some radio listeners can now see how good music should sound. | |

I think that Ray Charles death and shocking remergence as a significant force in pop culture could help Stevie a lot. People might not be so eager to let this legend be forgotten and might embrace him while he is still alive. Where can I hear this song, BTW. I don't want an MP3...I just want to hear the whole thing. | |

On his website, there's talk of a small venue tour around the country but no details. I will be there regardless of the venure size because I've never seen him and he's from my city (the D) | |

I agree.There are some good tunes there (my favorite is "I'm New"),but too many of the songs simply go on forever.Also,the production throughout wasn't very inspired,and the album needed some strong funk.The new single "So What The Fuss" is exactly the type of gritty,hardcore Stevie Wonder funk that I've been waiting for. | |
