what's the cutoff age to listen to some music?

you ever see a grown man in his 40's or 50's listening to Lil Jon or Ludacris? A middle-aged woman lip-synching to Britney Spears or Ciara? Just wondering, because I've seen some really disturbing sights lately, grown ass people who know all the words to the newest trendy music. Am I just being a older than 35 sourpuss?
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

well if you saw this guy--he had to be about 50 at least, who knew every line to 50 Cent's Candy Shop, you would have been disturbed too smile

well, my mom's in her fifties and she's obsessed with tupac vs. biggie. she's always watching those specials about the east coast vs. west coast rivalries and she quotes their lyrics over the phone to me when she's going on about all the conspiracy theories and whatnot. it all goes right over my head - i feel like she's the kid and i'm the out-of-touch parent. lol

that said, i don't think you're ever too old for any kind of music. you just have to genuinely enjoy it.

One of the most scalarious (scary/hilarious) things I've ever seen was at the YWCA a few months ago. I go there regularly to work out, and there was this crazy, gray haired, 50-something, white woman on one of the elliptical machines. She also had on a LaToya-style headband. The elliptical machines have moving arms so that you can work your arms, too. She chose, instead, to wave her arms wildly above her head the whole 15 minutes she was on there.

When she walked her old ass off the machine, she was bobbin' her head up and down, left and right. As she walked past me, I could actually hear through her headphones what she was listening to - 50 Cent's In Da Club. So, I guess I don't know the exact cut-off age that makes somebody too old, but she was clearly to the far right of that listener bell curve.

There really shouldn't be an age limit when it comes to listening to music.

Look at Robert Christgau. He's a well respected music critic and he still listens to music today (even though it's his job), and he's in his 60's.

He's still a dickhead though . lol

It hasn't always been like this. I remember being a teenager in the 1980s and seeing people in their 40s listening to current, up to date music. Music nowadays is geared towards kids and kids only.

Maybe it's not about age, but I.Q., if you find yourself listening to & enjoying most of what gets played on commercial radio these days you have to turn that crap off. listen to anything else for a month straight. then try to go back, you will most likely have learned to think for yourself!

maybe i'm working on double-standards here, because i think it's great when younger music fans can appreciate older music and understand what it was really like to be a musician or a singer in the 1940's through the maybe the mid 90's...and there are always catchy little tunes in every genre that evrybody can groove to...but damn if you're 55 years old and you're buying The Game's new cd for yourself, something's up with that.
