Debbie Gibson "electric youth". Good fun no?

I listened to this track for the first time in years yesterday. I own the video which is a laugh (I like the choreography actually) and track is "electric".

I like the computer game like sound effect used in the song. U know that "zapping it to ya" sorta sound that was all the rage back then?

Verse 1:
Zappin’ it to ya
The pressure’s everywhere
Goin’ right through ya
The fever’s in the air
Oh yeah, it’s there!
Don’t underestimate the power
Of a lifetime ahead

Chorus:
Electric youth
Feel the power, you see the energy
Comin’ up
Coming on strong
The future only belongs
To the future itself/in the hands of itself
And the future is
Electric youth
It’s true you can’t fight it
Live by it
The next generation...

It’s electric

Verse 2:
We’ve got the most time
To make the world go round
Oh, can you spare a dime?
Place your bet on our sound
Come back to town
Don’t lose sight of potential mastermind
Remember when you were young

Chorus

It’s electric

Bridge:
We do what comes naturally (naturally!)
You see now
Wait for the possibility
Don’t you see a strong resemblance
To yourself? (oh...)
Don’t you think what we say is important?
Whatever it may be...
The fun is gonna start with me
’cause I’m bringing it back...

Chorus

It’s electrifying

Take it fred!

Chorus

It’s electric, it’s electric, it’s electric

Chorus

Inflation
Flirtation
Relaxation
Elation
Generation of
An electric youth!

Debbie Gibson is the bomb! I love electric youth and I think "only in my dreams" is a masterpiece! She was so talented. When I was a kid I was so in awe of her. I couldn't believe that a kid so young could write, produce and play instruments. I think she's underated.

Debbie Gibson is the only human being alive that can get away with calling something a Campfire mix for a song and having that not be campy at the time at all!

Didn't his writing also suggest that he was into young boys? Wasn't there a whole song of his called "Young Boys" and one line was "Come here, I want to kiss you...". I wasn't even thinking of the computer stuff but know that you mention it....

? But all I know is he got let off easy. I cannot quite remember the details but UK singer Gary Glitter had child porn on his computer too and he got lynched and fled the country. I have not heard one of his songs off the radio or seen a video since. Not even his christmas song, which used to always get played. That is sad.....

falloff My thoughts exactly. Electric Youth is a terrible, misculated attempt to recreate the energy of her first album. The only Debbie Gibson album worth owning is this one:

It's a good pop album.

Yeah I got that album. I only like the first 3 track (yes the title track has some charm) ans "staying together" is good fun. Rest of album is weak though. "electric youth" as an album is piss poor. "anything is possible" and "body mind and soul" are miles better on the whole, yet they lack killer singles.

Here is my rather naff review of "anything is possble":-
