i met tori amos tonight!!

tori did a book/record signing at border's in chicago. she was incredibly friendly, as usual, and especially talkative. she spoke to my boyfriend about artists she should know about after she asked what he does in chicago (he's an artist, works at the museum of contemporary photography in chicago, and plans to open his own gallery). she then sent him over to her p.a. and introduced the two who then exchanged emails so he could send tori info on artists!

when i got to talk to tori i asked her two questions. first, i asked her how it is that i have trouble writing a 12 page paper on foreign aid yet she can bang out record after brilliant record with seemingly no problem...her response was first laughter and then, "well, i can't do anything else!"

my second question was regarding her upcoming tour and a specific song that i've never had the chance to hear live. my favorite song of hers is "yes, anastasia" so i asked her if she would perform it when she comes back to chicago in april or in detroit since i'll be at both shows. her response is below...

she then told me what time she'll be arriving at each venue for soundcheck and told me where and how to find her before the show. she said if i remind her via this note she will perform the song for me!

i love this woman!

I need to get her ass rehearsing "Condition of the Heart". The young girl taking requests in the piano bar lives on. lol

highfive I am really excited and happy for you. It's refreshing to see an artist (esp. as major as she is) appreciate their fans and take time out for them like that. I'm really loving "The Beekeeper" album. I would love to see her sing "Caught A Light Sneeze" though...or just get the chance to see her live period. nod

Tori used to live in the same city as me. I once saw her outside a music store but dismissed it thinking "What the fuck would Tori Amos be doing here?" The following day she was interviewed on Radio 1 by Steve Wright and he asked her "Where are you living now?" She replied "Nottingham".
I was so pissed at myself. mad

That sounds like a lot of fun. Good for you, Sassy! I'm not a huge Tori fan, but I will say this - she is very friendly and open with her fans. A good friend of mine met her several years back and has since talked with her several times. About five years ago, it was to the point where she's see him before shows, and shout out, "Hi, Jeff!" then greet him with a hug. They've actually stayed in touch over the years with occasional letters to each other. For some reason, he felt complelled to ask her for relationship advice, because he has a big problem with wanting to care take for all of his girlfriends. At that point, she said to him, "Jeff, get off my cross."

Hey Sassy! What a cool encounter with Tori. She is the best. I remember when she was on Loveline and this girl asked her a question, but first she made a request for a song at the show she was attending. She said "I'll see what I can do..." Then she asked for a pen and paper so she could make a note to herself. Tori is awesome.

Wow!

Sassy, I'm not particularly a Tori fan - got a couple of her singles and that's about it - but what a @&%^$£^ cool story.

I really hope she sticks to that promise; keep us updated.

her response would have probably been "really? Me too!!" She's always been open about Kate being a big influence.

yeah she has...she used to cover "Running Up That Hill" in her concerts too. I'd love to hear that cover, but I don't think she's doin' it anymore. I can't find it any bootlegs of it either. pout
