raise your hand if you liked Huey Lewis and the news!

I personally never got into their jams but I always wondered what kind of people listen to them? Where do they live and what do they do for a living? biggrin

seriously, what possesed him to make that kind of music? I guess his best song that I know of is "i wanna new drug". I heard a while back that he stole that from the Ghostbusters movie and got sued too.

Are you sure? Thinking about it they sound similar...but they came out at the same time. I like Weird Al's I wanna New Duck much better.

Damn these guys were huge huge huge.My brother loved em. Huey had a voice of fine silk.

I thought it was the other way around, Huey Lewis made the song first.

They performed at a local fair several years ago, and we went just for the hell of it. They actually sounded really good. It was fun music for its time, those songs were just so obnoxiously overplayed back in the day. Huey Lewis seems like a really nice guy any time I've seen an interview with him.

Back to the future is one of my favourite movies of all time, so i can't help but like the song The power of love.
His cameo in the movie is also pretty funny.

like the song goes...they are working for a living. They cater to the working class who like names of albums like Sports and Fore! Simple songs like Happy to be stuck with you and Power of love have the deepest meaning. They are definiteyly a blue collar band.

I imagine their start went a little like this....come travel with superpsaceboy back to the the year 1980....HL&TN probably started in one of the guys garages. The band was left overs from HS days...though2 of them went to college and dropped out. They'd drink beer and play loud music til late and dreamed of making it in the big time. And one of them was "probably" creative and wrote "poetry" that someone twisted into crappy lyrics. They didn't have a band name...nor was anyone really slated to be the lead singer...they were all just mediocre but the musc was ok.

Someone had a connection to some exec/friend at a record label (former frat brother...probably) and was invited to hear the "band" at so and so's garage. That executive probably went and heard the music but said "the music is ok...but if one of you guys give me a nice BJ...maybe we can work out something" The guys discuss it and decide that whom ever "does the duty" gets to be the lead singer and pick the name of the band.

A few zips later Huey walks out wiping his chin and says "You're looking at the new "Huey Lewis and the News"

he definitely seems like a "swell Guy"! a friend of mine saw him in concert a few years ago and he said it was a decent show but felt a bit funny being there.

They do the 40/50 yr old circuit...benefits with a lil dancing /rock flair. For an older generation that views itself as hip.

i don't think huey lewis is the anti-christ anymore. i just realize, in retrospect, that he was the exact opposite of what i liked about music back in the day (and probably to this day). i think huey lewis and lux interior should switch bands. i'd pay to see huey lewis and the cramps. i don't know if i'd pay to see huey in nothing but black bikini briefs and black high heels though. ill

I'd pay 4 dollars to see Huey get fucked in the ass by Lux. Do you think he's a cooer or screamer?

Do I hear 4.50? 5?

It was actually the other way around...Huey sued the guy who did Ghostbusters...I just saw that on the 80s show on VH1. they also said...if the women and gay guys here want to know.. that the guy is hung like a horse. I guess he whipped it out in a movie once.

I was never a very big fan of him...total MOR 80s crap that was completely overplayed. I remember a couple jocks back in high school, who used to give me a lot of shit for liking Prince, told me they loved Huey Lewis cause he named his album Sports. I don't know why I remember that...but still...WTF??

Huey had a big one. Well there was a bulge of his on Fore! (hey it was my brothers album..and yes I looked. ) I sorta recall something about him regarding that...(Though Chris Iasak has supposedly a big one as well)...

See my above comment on the name of the Sports album.
