The Best REM Song Ever?

My vote is

"Beachball"

off the "Reveal" album.

Pretty much anyone I've played it to loves this song, too.

Close second for me would be "Electrolite" off the New Adventures In Hi-Fi album.

Everybody Hurts IS great, but it is also very commercial, and I usually don't go for the singles off an album when it comes to an artists' best tracks.

"Beachball" is a swirling, calypso-ish, afternoon in the tropics, orchestrated masterpiece, in my opinion.

But yes I do love Everybody Hurts, too...it would be about #3 of my favourite songs of theirs.

That's a great one, too....but somewhere in my top 20, not top 10. I exclude most of their earlier work because I think they got a lot better later in their career.

Everybody Hurts devastates me. Commercial as it may be, the song really is moving.

I'm prolly alone in this choice, but I do believe "Hope" is my favorite REM song (Off the 'Up' album).

Not far behind would be:
Half A World Away
and
Pilgrimage

Hope is my favorite too. Followed by Don't Fall on Me.
