Rick Springfield 2005

It seems that Rick just never stops touring. He currently is on the "the DAY after YESTERDAY" tour to promote his upcoming CD of the same name which comes out in June and to Promote the Sony/BMG anthology called "written in rock" which contains 40 tracks authorized by Rick himself, the anthology ranges from 1969 to 2005, many of the songs have long been out of print or unavailable on any CD. Rick's Biggest commercial success years were during 1981-1985 were he turned out 4 multiplatnum Albums and 16 straight top 40 singles, those kind of numbers could never happen with todays artists. Rick took a long break between ROCK OF LIFE in 1987 and his next CD KARMA 1998, basically to raise his kids and to recover from a ATV accident, he did start touring again in 1996. Since then Rick has done well with his own label, website, merchandising and handling everything himself, quite lucrative actually he has said. Even though his last few CDs may not have been chartbreakers in todays soundscam era, most of his sales are through the website since many record stores dont carry indie labels, his last CD "SHOCKDENIALANGERACCEPTANCE" was a critical success but due to lack of Inventory in Record stores his CD missed a first week debut by 1,000 units. Overall soundscan has his last cd at around 50,000 sold which is great considering most of his fans bought it off his website, and bought the special LIMITED copy which had a Bonus disc and a DVD and was Signed personally by RICK, those sold for 75 dollars limited to 3,500 copies.

Well now his old label BMG who have merged with SONY wanna a piece of the action, since RICK was cut from BMG back in 1988, they have put out 7 different RICK SPRINGFIELD compilations, talk about milking the guy. But now the 2 have come to terms (possibly because Rick was given his masters) and are both Behind a New compilation called WRITTEN IN ROCK due out april 26th, a 2 cD anthology that will feature 40 tracks, many of which have never been available on CD, the tracks range from RICK's First hit in Austrailia with a band called ZOOT in 1969 up to a new track from his new cd due out in JUNE called THE DAY AFTER YESTERDAY. The new CD will be a collection of Songs that RICK wished he'd written, kind of like HALL AND OATES latest Soul covers CD. Rick's will feature a cover of the BEATLES "For No One", also "waiting for a girl Like U" "baker street" and an amazing version of "Broken Wings" with Richard Page (mr mister).

AT 56 RICK LOOKS AMAZING!!!!

It's a trip to see this cat from the 80's at it still trying to make a buck. He had some big pop hits in the 80's and the his fizzled out. I guess that he is best remembered for Jesse's Girl single.

Doesn't seem like something Prince would wear however the stance kind of looks like Prince.

Well he does have a real fan base, I post about him here because I know some peeps dig him. Its funny to see that some will complain about him or laugh at the fact that he still tries to make money, its weird I mean we all have Jobs, right?? Well why do we have Jobs.....To pay the bills, support our families etc.... And of course i always hear well "he's over, hasnt had a hit since....." the usual argument that people give at anyone over 25 making music. I think we can all agree that if MTV and VH1 and BET gave equal time to all ARTISTS that the tides of Music would change, U would see that its not all about being a teen and showing your breasts to sell a record. Some folks in music can actually play and sing.

Well I'm not complianing or laughing....just surprised. I'm not a fan but it's cool that he's still doing in his thing (I didn't realize he took so much time between albums in the late 80s and most of the 90s).
