I thought A Different Strokes was the ONLY sitcom she eva acted in Where you been? Yeah, Wilona adopted her, cuz her mama beat her with an iron. She started in season 5 of the show. Sadly, she came on the show once it had already started to really go downhill. [Edited 3/14/05 7:49am]

that's fucked! that always confused me when i was a little kid, because chip fields also played the secretary on 'spider-man' and she was really cool on that show, and really evil at the same time on 'good times', and let me just suffice it to say that my feelings about chip fields were more than a little conflicted.

When I found out that Chip Fields was Kim Fields' "Tootie" mother, I was hoping that she wasn't that mean to her. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Which season is that from? Season 5. That should be released to DVD in the next 6 months or so. Season 4 just came out. Harlepolis said: Slightly off-topic,,,
But what do you think is a betta show. Good Times or The Jeffersons? I love that latter so much! By far, The Jeffersons was a better show. I cannot believe that Sherman Hemsley never won an Emmy for that show. He was excellent on that show, and given that in real life he was the complete opposite of George - quiet, humble and reserved - it just makes what he brought to the show even more respectable. The show itself wasn't perfect, but it was always outrageous, and when it was funny, it was really funny. Good Times was good for the first couple seasons (before JJ took over the show), but even then the writing was never great, and besides the three adult characters, nobody was a good actor. Once James left the show, they really struggled and tried to bring something to the show: more Booger, Penny, lots more JJ, Thelma's boyfriend, etc. My favorite episode of Good Times is in season 2 when they all invite their neighbor to dinner. They learn that she sometimes eats dogfood and she brought a meatloaf to share. Ugh. lol

I got one word to say,,, FLORENCE Boy, that is one sassy heffa. Marla Gibbs was the damn thang in The Jeffersons, esp when you compare her role to 227's Mary Jenkins which is quite mellow comparing to Florence. I guess she passed the torch on to Jackee Harry(Sandra Clarke) who dominated that show FULLY . Everytime I remember the 2 eposides where she was sitting with Gladys Knight in a salon for an hour she didn't realize untill later, and the eposide where she met Billy Dee Williams,,,I piss on myself not to mention, how she & George wild out at each other, back and fourth lol,, Of course, I could neva understand how critics hammered it in its later seasons as "white washed" How so? We're moving on up edit,, [Edited 3/14/05 11:36am]

Not a bad Idea to cue it up on Netflix. Christian Zombie Vampires

Please don't shoot me. . .
But I have to admit something--As a kid I hated Janet on 'Good Times' . .I couldnt stand how overly corny she was, with that dopey/spacey look on her face all the time. I thought Ms. Willona Woods was just bad as hell, and that Penny was way too lame to be adopted by her. It's the age-old story of wrong-headedly thinking that adding some cute 'cuddly' character to a show will save it after it's lost its way. I call it Scrappy Doo Doo Syndrome. There, I've said it. Yes, I didn't feel any love for precious Penny Doo.

But that show made me terrified of Chip Fields even to this present day. [Edited 3/14/05 12:29pm] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
