Tori was interviewed on MTV in the U.K. on a show called MTV Style where celebrities choose their style icon. This was shown on March 12 and March 13, 2005. Tori chose Prince...here's a transcript:

"Hi there I'm Tori Amos and my style icon has to be Prince.

I remember seeing Purple rain at the theatre and uhh... I couldn't leave my seat. I was transfixed by that purple coat. I just remember that Prince was able to hold that Jimi Hendrix musicallity and yet was able to have the sexuality of Jim Morrison.

That was quite something at this time; especially in an African American guy who was able to hold the best of the Apollo looking Gods and the most sensual and rhythmic Marvin Gaye and Jimi Hendrix type of rock icon.

I thought he had soul and rock in one being and everything he wore; everything he put on was like a second skin and it was completely delicious."

not only is she a brilliant singer/songwriter but girl's got style, too!

Honestly, it looks more like she follows the fashion whims of Mary-Kate Olsen than Prince.

you know, its funny, i met her once in philadelphia. i had just seen prince play 2 small live shows (it was spring 1998 and he was about to release the travesty that would be called newpowersoul) and tori was the next show. she was playing the same venue i had just seen prince in days earlier. she asked me if there was anything i'd like to hear and i told her that i'd just seen the prince shows and how much i love her version of purple rain. her response was "oh, shit...", she didn't know if she could remember it or not. in the end, she sang the lyrics to purple rain over the music to hey jupiter.
