I downladed it wondering what the real version sounded like (the only one I heard was part of it from "What's Love Got...."

WHAT a song! Her vocals are chill giving! They were so powerful. I never hear this song on any oldies stations. I heard it was too "white" for black radioand too "black" for white radio. I understand how that couldve been back then, but this is an underrated superb track!

TINA!

There's a later studio version(70s) of that song which is Rock n' Roll-oriented(By Ike & Tina) and its not a remix.

Get that ASAP nod trust me on this,,

My mom loves that song and was really dissapointed when I bought her "Simply The Best" a number of years ago and for some reason that verison of it did not have "River".

Just have to say this is such a beautiful photo of Tina. It makes me think of her as a goddess. But maybe that's because I practical worship her.

well, that's certainly part of it. but not the primary reason for why it flopped. it's because it was given to one station in LA to premiere, while the larger station (that also owned a few others in the area and around the country) felt slighted that it wasn't given to them initially as well. so it never really got off the ground.
