my doorway into the maze of Medulla was "Desired Constellation"
after that the rest just rolled itself out neatly and clearly.

admitting, I first thought that this would be impossible to like
or love but now it's close to the beauty of Vespertine.

Close. Though not completely there no no no!

Vespertine=GODlike

Medulla=DemiGod-ish

no more caffein for me please confused

For me too. I was relieved on two counts. When I first heard that the album was going to be all vocal, I was dreading it. But my friends pointed out that it was Bjork and if anyone could pull it off, she could. So I went into it with an open mind. And I loved it! The other thing I was worried about was not having a studio version of Desired Constellation similar to the one she was performing live on the Greatest Hits tour. So imagine my surprise when the one on the album actually had the music I was used to. I'm surprised she didn't use the Choir mix found on the single.

Medulla is 2 high on concept 4 me & It's like they
4got the songs. It's a weak album.

Try making a disc like this:

1. Pleasure Is All Mine
2. Where Is The Line?
3. Vokuro
4. Who Is It?
5. Submarine
6. Desired Constellation
7. Oceania
8. Sonnets/Unrealities
9. Mouth's Cradle
10. Triumph of a Heart

The songs are there. wink

Björk is a brilliant artist. But I think she needs
2 trim her lyrics, combined with her singing style=
2 much information, makes her lose melody.

I love Bjork and really thought "Dancer In the Dark" was great but I shockingly haven't bought an album since "Post" (well, "Telegram" but that wasn't reall a full album). I just listened to some "Medulla" samples and maybe she's just outgrown me cause I can't get into it. I did want to buy "Selmasongs" and "Homogenic" though. I'll get to it evantually...

weren't you posting about how much you loved "medulla" and purchased the delux edition with dvd when it came out? or have i got you confused with someone else?

You've got me...I lied! smile Must be thinking of someone else. I thought about buying the CD when it came out but just didn't bother. I definately want to get "Homogenic" and "Selmasongs" first.

Nice article, thanks for sharing!

I'm excited for whatever she does next. Homogenic is my favorite work of hers, but I like them all. Although, I must admit, for as much as I grew to enjoy and appreciate Medulla, I haven't had the drive to play it in months...
